So much more than war...

The recent blog, Peace in the Era of Call of Duty  really made me think about war games that dig deeper than simply a kill streak reward. The first game that came to mind was Spec-Ops: The Line and although I haven’t played it, I began to wonder if it did the war genre as...

I Got a Top Score in Call of Duty!

Posted on Wednesday, February 12 @ 14:30:00 Eastern by

I've been playing a bunch of Call of Duty: Ghosts on Xbox One. I'm totally casual though, so I haven't unlocked any crazy gun skins or unleashed nuclear bombs that kill every single person on a team in one fell swoop.

I'm your average Call of Duty player. Occasionally a savant, more frequently a doofus. I'm the guy who sits in the lobby for an hour, leaves, and doesn't come back for another month. I can instantly pick up Call of Duty and play for a while and have fun. It's that kind of mindless, twitchy, roller-skates shooter that I use to relax or shun games I need to play for work.

I recently hopped back online for the Call of Duty Ghosts Onslaught DLC Review and got another notice from Activision about just how mind-blowingly awesome I am at Call of Duty. Apparently average is still to be celebrated, but when I think about the millions of high schoolers, college dorm-room dwellers, and the middle-aged CoD-napped I've beaten back with these impressive scores, I get a little 'Murica in my eye.

Here are my top scores in Call of Duty: Ghosts. How do you compare?

I don't remember exactly how I pulled this off. Probably dumb luck and blind instincts, but I know it came during my most impressive match, read on for that stat.

This was definitely linked with the double-throwbacks above. That and a whole lot of Grenade Spam. Wasn't there some attempt to fight back agianst 'nade spam? I think there was.

I guess all that Ground War amounted to something.

I apologize to all the virtual soldier's wives and children. If it's any consolation, I have been shot in the nuts with a noob tube several hundreds of times.

More virtual brains!

That's right, I killed nearly four dozen people in the span of just 10 minutes! Those thrownback grenades sure did find a few targets.

Yeesh, I've really outdone myself a few times over. This sure is gruesome. I don't know if anyone deserves a heartfelt slow clap for that kind of deadly dervish. My kill-to-death ratio is still below 1.00, so take these achievements with a grain of salt.

What are your best scores in Call of Duty? Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught DLC is available now and will be coming to PlayStation and PC gamers at the end of this month.
