iPad 2 an Epic Game Machine?

Posted on Thursday, March 3 @ 13:58:38 Eastern by Josh_Laddin

A video interview captured earlier today with Epic Games Vice President saw the man gushing about the gaming potential of Apple's iPad 2 at GDC. If other developers across the board share his enthusiasm, the conflict over the mobile market between Apple, Sony, and Nintendo is going to heat up even more. First off, the damn thing is too big to fit in my pocket, so it's not going anywhere. Second, it's got no buttons! I mean, sure that might work for an RTS or a point and click adventure game, but how well are THOSE going to sell on there?

I agree. I've played a few of the games on the iPad, and they are fairly ridiculous... Driving games where all you do is steer, no control over brakes or acceleration, where the hell is the skill in that? Or shooting games where all you do is shoot constantly and just move your guy around to aim... I'd be stoked if they could do something cool with the iPad2, but there needs to be buttons, anaolg sticks, something so you can actually control the game, and not just watch it happen while you move your iPad around.
