Lara Croft Gets A Reboot

Everyone's favorite disproportionately chesty treasure hunter is busy getting a facelift and a series reboot from developers Crystal Dynamics in 2011. The new Tomb Raider reboot will feature the first adventures of a young Lara Croft as she pops her tomb-raiding cherry:

After a brutal storm destroys the boat she was travelling on, a frightened young woman is left washed ashore on an unknown beach. On her own but not alone she has only on goal, to survive.

This is an origins story that creates Lara Croft and takes her on a character-defining journey like no other.

"Character defining journey", eh? So, this is going to be the tale of where she got those fabulous and practical cargo shorts and that workhorse of a push-up bra?

Seriously though, haven't the last three or four Tomb Raiders been an attempt to reboot the franchise in an appealing way? Remember that dude with the glaive? What about the bullet-time mode in the last game? I have fond memories of the first two Tomb Raider games on the PS1, but the series fell out of favor with me as quickly as everybody else's.

Here's to hoping they finally get that magic formula right again in the revamp.
