The recent blog, Peace in the Era of Call of Duty  really made me think about war games that dig deeper than simply a kill streak reward. The first game that came to mind was Spec-Ops: The Line and although I haven’t played it, I began to wonder if it did the war genre as...

Luigi Proves His Dominance Spans The Ages, And Not Just 2013

Next time you wonder who's the top dog in all of Nintendo Land (the universe, not the game), remember this video from Youtube user OmegaTyrant4792. Watching Luigi defeat all of these level nine computer players has me mesmerized. Bowser, Peach, Captain Falcon, even Jiggly Puff falls to Luigi's might and pacifism. I mean, you expect Jiggly Puff but Captain Falcon too?

My favorite part of this video is when Birdo actually pushes Luigi back towards the middle of the level. You think it's over and Mario will just punch his brother off the map, but Birdo throws yet another curve ball at the brawling brothers. After Mr. Game and Watch is defeated, Luigi puts us on blast with a little blue steel for good measure. Even when Jigglypuff roughs him up for 130% damage, Luigi shrugs it off, turns the other cheek, and does the hustle.

How can you not love Luigi's style, his grace, his preference for green,... and his overalls? Obviously everyone is falling for the dashing younger brother, but what happens when the music stops? Who'll be there to confront Luigi after the stardom gets to his head?

I'm just saying, it's great to cheer Luigi on now but we all need to be there for him when Yoshi's year comes around. You know he's always loathed Yoshi for biting off his trademark color. What exactly did Luigi whisper to Iwata in the last Nintendo Direct? "I want him gone."
