Not even the power of Neil Gaiman and The Odd Gentlemen could save this game from a fate worse than death: a terrible score.

For Obsidian's crowdfunded love letter to Infinity Engine games like Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate, I was impressed by its willingness to pull back the curtain and let me see the machinery behind it.

Yesterday, while cleaning up my media center, I found my copy of Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus, which I bought sometime before Christmas last year. I had been pretty excited about this game pre-release, what with it being the first "traditional", albeit shorter than usual,...

DAILY MANIFESTO

Metacritic Names Super Mario Galaxy 2 "Best Game of the Year"

Posted on Monday, January 31 @ 12:23:02 Eastern by
Game of the Year awards season is one of my favorite times of the year! Everyone gets to go back and discuss what made the best games so good and you can talk about spoilers all you want because everyone has, hopefully, finished the games.

Let's remember, a lot goes into calling a game the "Best Game of the Year," a lot of opinion, disagreement, and criticism! I can't tell you how many people I saw complaining about Super Mario Galaxy 2 being snubbed among all the discussion.

Well, if you're one of those people Metacritic has your back! The site that big wigs in the industry like to base paychecks off of has announced the most critically lauded game of 2010, Super Mario Galaxy 2.

I'm not going to argue whether Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a good game or not. I haven't even played it. But, I will say this: Miyamoto is already getting paid enough. Let's make sure the underlings get a slice of that sweet revenue check!

If you're wondering, Super Mario Galaxy 2 edged out Mass Effect 2 by one point and Red Dead Redemption by two points, with each game scoring 97, 96 and 95 respectively. Super Mario Galaxy 2 follows in the footsteps of the first planet hopping Mario game which landed the Metacritic Best Game of the Year award in 2007 with the same score.

... Also, Metacritic sucks.
