LATEST FEATURES Being A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.

Microsoft Bumps Kinect Sales Estimates Up

Posted on Wednesday, November 3 @ 17:46:39 Eastern by
Bam! Xbox 360s are now expected to be watching 5 million living rooms this year.

While previous reports put the stakes at a movement of 3 million Kinect units this holiday season, Microsoft have decided they can do better. Reporter Dina Bass delivered the 5 million mark via Twitter. Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg retweeted the statistic to make it a bit more official.

OK, so aside from giving away a ton of these things through Burger King and the like, how realistic is a 5 million shipped statistic? This might seem more plausible as a goal than an expectation.

Kinect is set to be released at midnight tonight. "Shipped" is one thing. Xbox 360 4GB Slim Kinect Bundles could sit on retailer shelves for months without actually being purchased. My prediction is that more Kinects are actually sold at retail on Black Friday than the next 48 hours.

That's a safe bet, I'll admit, but there's a total lack of clarity in these expected "sales figures". As far as Microsoft is concerned, they've probably produced and allocated 5 million units to several different international retailers. They've pretty much washed their hands of those units.
