Microsoft Unleashing Kinect SDK in Spring

Posted on Tuesday, February 22 @ 14:04:14 Eastern by

There are so many great games for Kinect! ... Noooootttttt!

I've played Dance Central. I've reviewed a couple of games. Hey, the Kinect is fun for a little while. But where are all the games? We've seen more Kinect hacks on the PC than we've seen games. Seems like creating things for the Kinect is the most fun you can have with it.

Enter Microsoft's official release of the Kinect SDK. We'd already heard that it was coming, but there were no details on a specific date. Interactive Entertainment Business Presdient Don Mattrick spoke internally about the release of an official Kinect SDK for Windows. The free download will "give academic researchers and enthusiasts access to key pieces of the Kinect system -- such as the audio technology, system application programming interfaces and direct control of the Kinect sensor itself."

Until official Kinect creations land, you can continue to enjoy Game Revolution's ongoing Kinect hack features like this doozy:
