Mortal Kombat Turns 20: Happy Birthday!

Can you believe this? Mortal Kombat is 20 years old. It seems like only yesterday I was tearing people's heads clean off their shoulders, spinal cords dangling and dripping blood. Oh wait, that was yesterday, during rush-hour traffic...people really need to use their turn signals.

But I never would have learned that technique if it weren't for my all-time favorite franchise, fighting or otherwise. No other game has cost me more money (those quarters add up), or gobbled up more hours of playtime.

I don't often tip my hat to other sites, but GameSpot has a Mortal Kombat retrospective that is simply a must see. After this, if you want more Mortal Kombat, make sure to read my in-depth feature on Old-School MK Characters.
