New Video Games February 24th - March 2nd, 2013

Posted on Monday, February 25 @ 18:00:00 Eastern by

This week's video round up features a backing track from Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan. From what little I've heard of the soundtrack from the Japanese release, the music in that game kicks ass. We've also got the vocal stylings of Jack Black for your ear drums, but for now, let's get to the list:
I'm picking up Etrian Odyssey and possibly Ninja Gaiden for my portables, but I'm also tempted to jump back into Halo 4 multiplayer and get my ass kicked on these new maps. I can't help but remember the fun I had assassinating UghRochester or getting shot in the dome by 213EDD. Maybe it's time I put my Spartan IV armor back on.

Yes, do I sense excitement in your voice?
I was thinking of picking it up but... I don't know, I am not really a fan of that type of stuff.

I think it's more incredulity. I have it for PS3, but haven't played for more than an hour. It has it's obvious flaws, but it's fun and genuinely hilarious for anyone that's been a fan of metal at some point in their lives.

I have Brutal Legend for the 360 and absolutely love it! It's got Tim Schaefer all over it! Same amazing humor that any fan of his earlier works such as Monkey Island would love, plus it's got an amazing cast of characters and game world, amazing game to go exploring in. The gameplay itself does have some flaws and repition, but is still above average in my opinion, but even just for the story, colorful cast of characters, humor and excellent universe it is set in, this game is near the top of my most underrated list for this console generation. But yea, it's hard to believe it's only hitting PC now, some 2 to 3 years after the consoles.

I picked it up used for $4.99. I wish I would have listened to my gamer friends when it released, because it's one of those games that I think the creators don't get enough credit for. It's third on my list of games to finish.

Thank you for remembering Dan! Etrian Odyssey IV is the only game I'm buying at launch, just because I forgot to pre-order... hopefully this time around it'll sell well in North America.

DW7E. Been messing around with the character editor demo. Lots more depth compared to earlier games, but with even more obligatory Japanese nonsense. I tolerate though, because it's DW7E.

I've heard HM&M6 is not good, but never any solid reason why. Anyone try it/know more? I like the series.

I tried it and it was unplayably chuggy so that's as much as I can tell you. If you like the series I'm sure you will like it, I don't think much has changed.

As with anything Halo, I'll be picking up the new maps sooner than later, watched the Vidoc on it last week, was a little disapointed to hear that each of the maps is focused on smaller battlefield gameplay. I'm more a fan of the sprawling vehicle filled levels myself, and usually you get a bit of variety with each map pack brought out. Maybe 343 is going for an all large-scale map pack next time out.
