Pixelated Portal, Mass Effect, Bioshock Has Us Pining for 2D Remakes

One of my favorite things in the whole world is pixelized art... as a subset of that, pixelized visions of modern games are high on the list. Soooo... these are pretty much the best things ever.

DeviantArtist ~pieceoftoast created these Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP-inspired pieces that maintain all the detail and atmosphere of the inspiration while also putting a definite personal touch on it. Which one is your favorite?

Am I the only one who doesn't want this to happen? We're supposed to be moving innovation forwards, not... back to 1994. I don't want that era back. It's dead, please let it stay dead.

That being said, pixelart is cool for its nostalgia, but I don't want these made into games. It's 2012, not 1994.

Nope. I agree completely. Not just because visually, but in terms of technology you can do a whole lot more now than you could with 2D pixels and sprites.

Oh yeah, pixel art is really only best when it's appropriate for the game and platform. I consider Batman: Arkham City one of the most beautiful games in recent memory.

Hey, doesn't Arkham City have a side-scrolling mode or something?

I believe the Robin DLC has a challenge map that acts in a side-scrolling manner but I haven't played it.
