Poll Says Gamers Hate Activision Blizzard, Capcom, and EA
Posted on Saturday, July 23 @ 17:37:57 Eastern by Nicholas Tan
Activision, because duh. Capcom, because Megaman. EA, because dropped online support and Origin. Nintendo, because WHERE ARE THE GAMES??? Microsoft, because wtf am I playing? Sony, because we don't like our info being stolen. Square, because we can. Ubisoft, because DRM sucks, and Splitter Cell is officially boring.
Thankfully Blizzard gets to run pretty much how it always did. From what I heard, a lot of agreements and legal stuff was done to allow Blizzard to run as usual. I think even Activision knows they'd kill the profits if they forced Blizzard to churn out half-assed new products and expansions every year.
Yeah,Squiggy your right. Don’t kill the goose that lays golden eggs. Even Activision isn’t that stupid, but I still don’t like them owning Blizzard. Everyone knows you can’t soar with the eagles if your ground crew is full of turkeys. So hands-off is good.
I think Capcom is the "it" publisher to hate right now, but I've said it before: a publisher would have to do a lot of **** to dethrone Activision right now.
Yeah, I'm surprised that Sony didn't get that many votes considering the whole PSN fiasco, but maybe it's because most people blame the hackers over Sony's lack of security.
That or theyre still working with their credit card companies, banks, law enforcement and identity fraud/theft depts and are too busy to fill out online polls.
I don't understand the hate for Activision. They're doing their job, publishing games and making money. They're mainstream now, is that why we hate them?
It seems like the more mainstream the industry becomes, the more we hate Activision.
I think people hate Activision because of their tendency to over-saturate the market with a popular franchise. First it was Tony Hawk, and now it's Call of Duty. How many CoD games have been made this gen so far? Seven? Eight?
I stopped buying them after CoD2, so I'm not sure.
I might hate myself for being so weak still buying their games even though I absolutely dislike their capitalistic company policy just like you do. And that's the problem, why should they even care about gamers who cry foul but still return to their games like women in abusive relationships?
I have at least enough backbone not to buy all the stupid DLC stuff, even though I absolutely can't stand the feeling playing an incomplete game respectively that I'm missing out on something.
I'm really surprised that Capcom overtook EA in stupid / worthless nickle and dime DLC. Just yesterday I noticed that they offer Street Fighter tactics videos for 80 MSP a piece. A franchise that has whole communities just dedicated to teaching you to play SF on a competitive level completely free. I don't even want to know how much you would pay if you buy all their SF costume packs alone.
My goodness, a well-thought out, well-written comment on a gaming website! Guess this isn't IGN. IGN's main comments regard boobs and saying 1sttttttttt.
DLC is the biggest scam going right now. The game ships let's say Aug 12th, they have DLC for the 15th? If they had that, why wasn't it in that shiny $60 game you just sold me? (if they make another Assassin's Creed game next year, I will personally kill Ezio myself).
I'm surprised/not surprised to see the list the way it is. Certainly Activision is pumping out Call of Duty games, however if that were the main issue I can't see them selling millions of copies repeatedly every single time they launch. In my opinion, I think what is giving them the "razz" is the inability to properly provide online support so that you're not trying to connect for 20 minutes, play 3 minutes, get kicked off, connect for another 15, wait in a lobby, lobby closes, repeat. Coupled with the fact that the first DLC probably could have been released with the actual game. Afterall, you've just shelled out $60 for a game now you're having to pay more money for more maps not long after the release (of course you don't HAVE to). Black Ops was my first (and probably last) experience with Treyarch, I just got the sense there was something missing from playing their game.
As for EA, my biggest gripe is their canning of servers for specific games to sort of give gamers a bit of a "push" to get the latest edition (I'm more referring to sports titles obviously). However, most of EA's games I currently enjoy (Mass Effect series, Dead Space series and Dragon Age series), online multiplayer is unnecessary so I guess my griping is more in support for those that fall under that category.
I gave up on Capcom after they moved the Resident Evil series around exclusively one system to another, seriously, who do you think you are? /rant. Fortunately I didn't get caught up in the Street Fighter craze outside of my adolescent years (SNES), otherwise I'd be suffering the same fate as those trying to get the DLC's for them.
