PS3 Mass Effect 2, Better Than Xbox 360 Version

Posted on Thursday, December 16 @ 14:00:00 Eastern by

According to the official BioWare blog and podcast, the upcoming PS3 port of Mass Effect 2 is done and all ready to go for mass production. But it's not just a copy and paste of the Xbox 360 code, explains producer Jesse Houston:

One of the first things you're going to see is improved graphics. We actually created the engine for Mass Effect 3 and used that to make Mass Effect 2 PS3.

The controls are geared towards the PS3 controller [although] you can switch it back to the old Xbox [layout] if you like. Other things like planet scanning have been improved; we've rolled up all of the patches; done a whole bunch of bug fixing.

The Blu-ray disc means that you won't have to swap discs midway through, The Lair of the Shadow Broker comes included for free, and Mass Effect 1 will be retold through an interactive comic where you can make those important decisions before Shepard gets reincarnated by Cerberus.

Now I'll have to rent it just to see if the graphics are "better". No point to playing it all the way through again on a different console. ME3 is going to be soooo good. Fixing the Quarian/Geth conflict with Legion on my side! Talking to Legion after beating ME2 was a lot of fun. Especially since he won't answer the question of why he has a piece of Shephard's armor fused within him.
