PS3 Price Drop For Real

Posted on Thursday, July 5 @ 21:51:40 Eastern by Duke_Ferris
Sony won't officially announce it until next week, but retailers across the country are confirming that they'll all be dropping the price by $100 on July 15th. Good marketing or desperation move?

Personally, I think they just want to make it cheaper than the iPhone. Either way it's the end of the "five hundred and ninety-nine U.S. dollars" jokes. Will Microsoft strike Sony's weak spot for massive damage and lower the price of the 360? I think they should.

At the very least they've announced today a three year extension of the 360's warranty to allay people's fears about failing Xboxes. I'll know more on Tuesday after Microsoft's press conference in Los Angeles.

Did you have a good 4th? For the first time, I didn't have any fireworks (I love fireworks). In California, they're actually arresting anyone caught with fireworks this year. Considering the recent Lake Tahoe fire, and how dry it was this winter, I guess that's understandable. It's just less fun.
