PSP2 Supposedly Coming Fall 2011 with Beefed Up Features

Posted on Monday, October 25 @ 09:50:31 Eastern by
Sony's little handheld that could, pretty much has one foot in the grave already thanks to the 3DS. So how's Sony going to counter?

With a tricked out PSP2 of course, said to be releasing fall 2011.

According to sources speaking with Kotaku, the PSP2 has already been shown in private back at Tokyo Game Show, and boasts a few features that easily trump that of the original PSP. On top of dual-analog sticks, there's also a touch-screen on the rear of the device, an "HD" screen that's an inch larger than the original PSP, and if previous rumors are anything to go by, it will run on Google's Android OS.

There is one issue, however - because it's packing so much under its hood, there's issues with overheating. So don't expect an unveiling until all the kinks can be worked out.

What would you like to see featured in the next PSP?

I dunno, I haven't been into handheld games since I was like 10. I like a proper tv screen and stereo sound with good bass when I play my games. Blowing **** up is way more fun when you can feel it, know what I mean?

"there's also a touch-screen on the rear of the device"?

Is it just me, or is Sony essentially making you molest your handheld? Aside from the fact that having a touch screen on the back makes it impossible to use both the touch screen and regular one at the same time, but it also might lend itself to accidental input, if you should walk into something while using it.

Tyrranis, I'm assuming it turns off the touch screen when the big screen is flipped up.
