Razer Releases Official Mass Effect Gaming Gear

Posted on Friday, February 17 @ 08:19:07 Eastern by Keri_Honea

Karma is mean little bitch sometimes. Earlier this week, I totally made fun of a friend for considering buying a Star Wars: The Old Republic keyboard from Razer. And then yesterday, BioWare announced that they have an official line of gaming peripherals with Razer...and it's Mass Effect themed.

As I sit here in my N7 T-shirt, with my N7 bubble jacket hanging over my chair, I can't deny I have a bit of an obsession and addiction. I admit it and embrace it. Even my husband has embraced it; he added a bookmark on his phone to the BioWare Mass Effect store. (That's true love, people.) As such, you can only imagine how hard it was for me to not add everything into my shopping cart and plan for the date that I will lie in a pile of my Mass Effect greatness and roll around in it. Lucky for me, my shoulder-devil developed a sense of morality and reined me in.

I walked away with preordering the mouse and the controller and placing my name on the wait list for the iPhone case and messenger bag. I really, REALLY want that keyboard—how awesome would it be to write my Game Revolution articles on that thing?—but I'm going to wait. As much as it kills me, I'm forcing myself to wait for another paycheck or two. I just have to stay away from staring at the site...especially if I'm drunk.

Anyone want to buy me the keyboard as a gift?

The two best things are the keyboard and the iPhone case. But I'll restrain myself from getting them. Throwing in the DLC is a devious plot, but I think I can survive it. My FemShep doesn't use assault rifles anyway.

The controller is pretty ugly, and sorta pointless, since Bioware confirmed that ME3 on PC will not support gamepads.

I really like the phone case. But the rest of it is just matte black with a N7 and stripe slapped on.

Man, in the first ME, male Shep seemed as hyper and excited flying around the galaxy and kicking ass as I imagine I would be in that situation. Then ME2 brought him down to a more even-tempered attitude, and I liked that. But all the promotional material for ME3 has him showing this look as if he discovered all his teammates held a party and didn't invite him or something.
And do we really need a total emo makeover on fem Shep? I mean, I really liked her voice actor in the first two games, and sure she wasn't particularly good looking or anything, but neither was Sigourney Weaver in Aliens, and she still made for a damn good action hero.

I would buy the mouse if I didn't already owned an Imperator (excellent mouse by the way).

But if you want to show your love for Mass Effect (and your nerdiness) I guess the messenger bag is the way to go.

Oh man, and here I was feeling bad because I impulse bought a 20 dollar t-shirt. But now I suddenly feel ridiculously money smart. Thanks!
