Ridiculous Mass Effect 2 Stats

Posted on Tuesday, September 7 @ 22:22:15 Eastern by
Obviously a ton of time was spent developing Mass Effect 2, but a ton of time was also spent playing  Mass Effect 2.

Developers have started to take note of how you play their games. Why? To build a better mouse trap game. I thought I played a lot of Mass Effect 2, but I was so wrong. I'm not surprised by Soldier being the most played class, but I am surprised by player stretching the game out to 66 hours. That's a lot of mining.

I was actually quite surprised by this this little statistic. I played through ME2 about a half of a dozen times on pc, each with a different class shepard. I tried using a female shepard, but i just couldn't get into it. Soldier I got like halfway through the game before i decided to play as a different class. Infiltrator was my favorite, with Engineer following up afterwords. My average completion time was about the same though, provided I imported and got the free resources at the beginning.

And of course, I will be playing again (and Dragon Age too, btw) thanks to new DLC. Thanks again Bioware for making such addictive games with great replay value.

Now I feel ashamed that I only finished it once.

Got the best possible ending, though. No casualties amongst the crew or my team.

I usually play this sort of thing at least twice, from as different angles as possible.
This time I played a renegade male biotic, then a paragon female infiltrator.
That way I get to experience the majority of the combat and dialogue possibilites.
The first run took me about twice as long as the second.

Actually, I can see how a person could spend 66 hours on a single playthrough:

I'm in the extreme minority...I never bought the game. I never even finished the first game. What the hell is the internet?

I've yet to finish the first one, which I got on PC for $5, because it has to be all ghey and run slowly, even though I can run other games on higher settings. So if I got Mass Effect 2, it'd have to be on 360, but first I'd have to get Mass Effect.

@De-Ting: I was in the same boat just before Mass Effect 2 came out. Seriously, it's worth it. If you play them back to back the experence can be extremely satisfying.

As satisfying as playing Jak & Daxter, Daxter, Jak II, and Jak 3 in order?

This is a bit of a bummer, that they're doing this. Hopefully it's just for novelty purposes, and they aren't actually using it to make future game decisions...

Reason being is that I'm typically not in the popular groups of gaming habits. For instance, I loved playing Engineer in this game, and haven't even touched Soldier yet. Does that mean in ME3 they are going to cater more to the Soldier crowd, and neglect Engineer and the other "caster" classes? I hope not.
