RIP Ralph Baer (1922-2014)

RIP Ralph Baer (1922-2014) I really, really hate writing obits. I really do. But I take it as a personal honor to be able to say good things about the men and women I respect, whether in this industry or just in my life, and Ralph Baer is the reason all of this exists in the first...

DAILY MANIFESTO

R.I.P. Ryan Davis (1979-2013)

Posted on Monday, July 8 @ 11:02:22 Eastern by

Ryan Davis, co-founder and Senior Editor of Giant Bomb and previously a longtime editor at GameSpot, passed away on July 3rd at the age of 34.

Today, Giant Bomb released a message on its site by Matthew Rorie, stating that the site "has suffered a profound loss." Likely out of respect for the family, no information on the circumstances of his passing has been revealed.

Matthew Rorie continues:
Many of you know that Ryan was recently married. In the face of this awfulness, many of us will at least always remember him as we last saw him: outrageously, uproariously happy, looking forward to his next adventure with the biggest grin his face could hold.
Though I never had the chance to meet him personally, he was one of editors at GameSpot that made me want to become a game journalist back when I was in college. He was humorous, professional, and passionate about his craft and reviews.

Thank you, Ryan Davis, for giving so much to the video game community. Condolences to his family and friends.
