Sony and Microsoft Sitting in a Tree...

Posted on Friday, July 15 @ 08:59:08 Eastern by

There isn't much, if any news here, but it's worth pointing out. Something weird is going on with Microsoft. They're registering domains with the name Sony in the domain URL. It's anyone's guess as to why.

Microsoft has very recently registered Sony-Microsoft.com and Microsoft-Sony.com. They could either be teaming up with Sony to make the best console ever! Or, they could be creating some soft of comparison site to explain how much better Microsoft is than Sony (so they think). Of course, something completely out of left field could happen or maybe even nothing at all.

Or they could have seen what EA "not EA" was doing with ModernWarfare3.com.

Whatever it may be, we'll keep an eye on it. For now, tell us how you think this will play out. Ten points for the funniest comment. Although, we have to admit, the ten points do absolutely nothing.

In a perfect world, opening the gateway to a massive XBox-Sony multiplayer gaming community would be pretty interesting.

I would kill for just 1 console between the two of them. No more pointless fanboy arguments, no more problems of "Oh, I own a PS3, I can't play with you on your Xbox." No more wasted money from developers having to port the game to both systems...

In a perfect world I suppose.

I’m sorry, but I would like to respectful disagree. Having at least two strong consoles is far better than having one and only one console. Yes, your arguments for one and only one console are valid. Especially, about fanboys, but the benefits of two strong consoles greatly out weigh these minor inconveniences. From the competition between the consoles we get better products, better prices, better games, and an all around better time, all at a faster pace, than if there was only one console. So, unless your idea of a perfect world is only one choice, than we are better off as it is.

You know that somewhere out in this crazy world, there's a guy who will read this and finally start finishing his Cortana/Nathan Drake fanfiction. I did not google that beforehand, so god help me if it exists.

Anyhow, if any manner of collaboration and collusion happen, I'd love for Microsoft controllers to be able to use the D-pad Sony has patent on, and for Sony controllers to get some of the ergonomic benefits MS controllers have.

Could you imagine the beast console that would come out from them if they did collaborate? (Hypothetically)

If it ever does happen please keep microsoft away from the hardware department. jk

Good point. But Microsoft usually tries to do their own thing before adapting to someone else’s standard. Zune. Windows Mobile. Etc. etc.
