Sony Tries Bribery?

Posted on Friday, March 23 @ 20:48:05 PST by Duke_Ferris
OK, maybe it's not quite bribery, but everyone who queued up to get a PS3 and the Virgin Megastore London launch, also got a fancy new HDTV and a taxi ride home for their trouble.

No doubt that's about the only way to get your money's worth from the PS3 in the UK, which goes for £425, which is about $800. Plus tax. Oh, would you like to buy a game with that?

Total cost for the stunt was about $500,000. Was it worth it? Probably, because I bet it made newscasts around the world. Not to mention coverage in print and online. Heck, I even just fell for it. Damn. Stop reading this until Sony pays me. Just forget you were here.

That's a lot of advertising for $500,000.
