Tell GR: Have You Stayed Home Sick From Work Or School For A New Game?

Posted on Tuesday, September 10 @ 18:00:00 PST by

Next Tuesday's release of Grand Theft Auto V will undoubtedly cause a major work stoppage around the world as thousands of eager and ever-adolescent men show they know how to prioritize by staying home and stealing virtual money instead of going out into the world to make some real dough.

What I'm saying is don't expect to see much of me next Tuesday because I'll be sick *cough* *cough*. See? I'm already working on my fake cough. It's not the first time I've blown more important things off for a video game. When Halo 3 launched, I missed my first class because I was too absorbed in online multiplayer. When Grand Theft Auto IV launched I nearly missed a midterm. Basically I'm saying it's easier to ditch school than it is to not play a game you've been hotly anticipating for months on end.

That hype, that anticipation. It can drive us to do some stupid stuff, like forgetting to pick up our kids from school. I've never done that, but if you have, please share that shame in the comments below.

Have you ever stayed home sick from work or school for a new game?
