Tell GR: Stealth Or 'Splosions?

Posted on Thursday, September 20 @ 20:34:21 Eastern by

Is anyone playing Borderlands 2? Yes? Well then we've got a decision for you:

When you're faced with choosing a class or spec'ing out a character for the next 50 levels of gameplay, which direction do you go? Are you more inclined to sneak around in the shadows or do you start unloading your machine gun before you've even pushed the door open?

When it comes down to it, you have to choose. You can't have both. So that's what I'm forcing you to do here....

Nothing can beat the very practical turret, from Roland's "setting up a sentry!" to borderland 2's.

Stealth. It makes me stop, look around, and actually think about what I'm going to do next.

I'm more of a stealth person too. It requires more thinking and I think you get more out of games that require even just a little bit of stealth.

I usually go with Stealth first, carefully and patiently, but if I get caught and things turn ugly I switch to Killzone mode.

Is your playstyle the one where the only thing that replaces your automatic weapon is a bazooka? Because I played DXHR like that too.

What's your favorite stealth game? As much as I've wanted to get into MGS, I can't seem to, though the stealth gameplay has always been really enticing.

that's a shame, metal gear is my favorite. mgs became my favorite series when i played the first game back when i was about 8 years old. 13 years later it still is, and stealth is something i've loved in video games since. splinter cell is another amazing series. although conviction was a little too big on action, it was too good to deny in the end

I play co-op with my brother. I go the Up close splosion route while he picks them off from a distance with stealth. So splosions for me personally

this game has shotguns, that fire rockets, pistols that make enemies splatter all over he wall with one shot and assault rifles that act more like miniguns firing HE ammo...and you p***ies want to sneak around like scared little girls? SHAME ON YOU!! SHAME!!!

You know what, I haven't found one yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was a gun like that. I mean they have guns that instead of reloading them, you throw them at the enemy and they explode like a grenade.

Almost always 'splosions for me. I never really cared for stealth which is why I've never finished more than one level in any MGS game. The only exception is Deus Ex: HR.

That's an amazing exception. What made you want to finish the game? The narrative? Or am I misunderstanding you and you've only finished one level?

The outstanding level design, the narrative, and the sense of freedom and choice made me finish it. I've never had that much fun being stealthy.

I haven't played Borderlands and Borderlands 2, but I'm the master of stealth. I'm sure Daniel and whoever has played Halo: Reach during a community playdate can verify this. Explosions don't excite me as much as a swift kill. I've been fascinated about being invisible ever since I can remember. If you see you see here, in my recorded video of while I was LIVE streaming, I'm pretty good of being not seen.

If you watch the beginning to Monty Python's And Now For Something Completely Different, they will teach YOU how not to be seen. Also, 'splosions makes too much noise and the enemy could hear you. Being stealth, you could escape safely if done correctly. Do you want to battle more enemies or escape safely? Also another reason why stealth is b

Sneaking is totally overrated. It requires far too much patience (and I suck at it).

Blowing stuff up is where it's at.

I prefer stealth. While you cant really have both, it is far more doable to go from stealth to explosions than it is explosions to stealth. I will kill as many enemies as possible to reach my objective without being noticed. The less I have to deal with in a real fight, the better.

I used to be all about blowing things up, but switched to stealth recently. Thought a major exception is the rogue from WoW; at first I loved being a rogue but then I got lonely and learned to hate the class. But with Metal Gear and even to Uncharted I loved cracking necks silently.

Stealth, except for rogues, with are a vile vile class.

The stealth in Uncharted is quite satisfying, but it's difficult to do. Even when I'm presented with an opportunity to be stealthy, Drake talks to himself the whole time and gets me caught.

I prefer stealth in Borderlands 2 and the improved critical hit death animations make it a lot more fun than the same route on Borderlands 1. I also like loot though, so you can't just sit back and snipe the whole time if you still want a piece of the pie.

Maybe you can sneak up to the loot while the rest of your group finishes off the enemies.

Stealth. I always prefer the challenge of being methodical over running in guns blazing. Hell, in RPGs I tend to play squishy classes that require quick maneuvering in order to be viable. It just feels more rewarding that way.

I prefer stealth, mostly because I like to know what kind of situation I'm walking into before the sh*t hit's the fan. But, I'm always ready to start tossing out the explosions too. Just because Plan A is to move in stealthily doesn't mean I'm not going to have a Plan B.
