Tell GR: What Did You Give/Get For Christmas?
Posted on Tuesday, December 25 @ 09:15:00 Eastern by Daniel Bischoff
When the dust settles on 2012, I think we're all enjoying one gift: life. Thank you all for making GR what it is.
Me? I'm still not sure what I "got" for Christmas, as we'll be opening gifts later tonight, but I gave my mom a book on retiring happily, my dad some stuff for his motorcycle, and my girlfriend's neices got arts and craft supplies for a painting class we're taking together later in this holiday break.
I just woke up, but my gf has been making food all night and morning as the family is spending Christmas here so I know I'll at least be feasting gloriously, and really what gift is better than that?
Thats cheating, thats a give/receive all rolled into one... unless you got it for yourself, all by yourself. Some people dont need a video game to enjoy a handheld.
The Folio Society edition of Edward Gibbon's The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire. Some packets of Godiva coffee. New Pants. That is all.
Grandma got me a whole bunch of new pants, socks, and the like, as well as some desperately needed new shoes. Also a second 360 controller and controller charging stand. And a friend of mine got me a badass bath robe. It's fashioned after Emperor Palpatine's robe from the movies, but has the Imperial emblem on the left shoulder. It's so goddamn soft and warm.
I also stuffed my gullet with Oreo pie, so there's that.
Gave: Oldest = Turtle Beach headset, Dishonored, Fifa 13, Matchbox Jeep, $5 gas for his new truck Youngest = Five assorted DS and 3ds games and we still have some gifting for him since he has everything. Lol He wants Minecraft for PC so that he can download mods and have his own server. AH yes he is the gamer Wife= Jewelry, jewelry box, dvds Got: Boxers, Kindle Fire HD 8.9, and a retro duo game thingy... praying that last one works out
And I gave a bunch of TV series to my relatives (Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead to my dad, Homeland to my brother and some Québec series you don't know to my dad), and I'm going to give The Walking Dead game to my brother tomorrow for his birthday.
I only got 1 video game, which was Playstation All Stars, though that was my birthday gift since i was born on Christmas
Got some Lego Lord of the Rings Lego Sets, The Hobbit Soundtrack, a really awesome Hobbit Calendar, a bunch of Detroit sports stuff (Lions,Redwings, Tigers) from my family who lives there, and the Dark Knight Rises on DVD. Plus a bunch of smaller gifts like Thermal socks for work.
Gave plenty of chocolatey goodness at work, a trip for my for family on this long holiday (from Friday to Tuesday here in Venezuela), got from my friends cake and cookies, from my family a paid trip to the movies to see The Hobbit, and got for myself a Lumia 920, video-game related, I bought plenty of games for the Lumia.
I gave my wife the Animal Crossing special edition 3DS bundle. I will officially be one of those numbers on the insanely high Media Create numbers that come out tonight.
She got me Trinity Zill O'll Zero -- a game that got so-so reviews, but I really enjoy ^_^ It scratches an itch for me. She also got me a bottle of garlic Tabasco and a new belt (mine broke recently -- and I'm only 130 pounds!). Great Christmas!
Girlfriend got a night in a hotel and a shopping spree to be used at a later date. Other people got other stuff, but my 9 week old nephew got the most presents by far. Go figure - the one that can't open presents and has no idea what's going on gets the most.
But being with family and friends, eating fantastic food (lamb chops and prime rib, motha'****a'!), drinking delicious dark beer, and seeing Django Unchained made this one of the best Christmases in recent years.
It was so good. It was even better than Thanksgiving. I was so surprised we had such a sweet dinner, since we hardly ever have anything special to eat on Christmas.
Got $250 from my parents, my girlfriend got me a 24" samsung monitor, keyboard, and a couple steam games that I told her would make good presents when they were on sale (civ 5 and torchlight 2). I have that hooked up to my laptop now, sometime in the near future I'll build a desktop.
I recieved a Two Face lead figurine, a year Playstation Plus membership card, and a new copy of Mass Effect 2 to replace the one that I had to trade in buy pull ups for my youngest.
I got a terrible cold, cigars, wine, tequila, clothes, gloves, socks, knee wraps, cologne, Polo boots, a Ralph Lauren winter jacket, and a FitBit One to go with the FitBit Aria I got a couple weeks ago.
I gave a **** ton of gifts to my daughter, got her an iPad mini, gave my wife a new purse, accessories, make-up, other girly things. I gave a ton of other gifts to family and friends, but nothing that really stood out. Oh, got my brother Sleeping Dogs.
A new microwave and multi-tool, some cash but mostly games I wanted but never got around to picking up. Walked away with The Walking Dead, Sleeping Dogs, Journey, Hitman Absoultion, God of War 3 (stupid jerk friend borrowed it an never gave it back, then moved) as well as a whole heaping to of Microsoft Points. I should be set for a while. : )
