Tell GR: Who Would You Pick For A Microsoft Smash Bros.?

Posted on Friday, May 25 @ 15:51:22 Eastern by

The introduction of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale immediately conjures the idea of a "Microsoft Ultimate Hero Bash" or something of that nature. The trouble, though, is that Microsoft hardly has the same catalogue of games as Nintendo and Sony.

The obvious choices are Master Chief, maybe Arbiter, from Halo and Marcus plus Dom from Gears of War (more characters from them, if necessary). Microsoft owns Rare too, so as awkward as it might be, they could introduce Banjo, Conker, or as a last resort, Kameo. They could also dig into Fable, the first Mass Effect (maybe), and their XBLA exclusives. I would actually like to see some characters from Lost Odyssey.

Who would you like to see in the what-if Microsoft Smash Bros.? (Emphasis on the bro...)

Alan Wake, Kaim Argonar from Lost Odyssey, Galen from Ninety-Nine Nights II, and many more obscure characters most people wouldn't recognize. That's right; my favorite Xbox exclusives are all older and not super popular! Don't I feel like the odd guy out.

Yeah, there aren't a ton of great characters to go to yet, as MS has only been in the game 2 generations where Nintendo has been in for forever, and Sony has an extra generation under it's belt in 3. But, they could add a character or two from Blue Dragon, maybe some Dead or Alive characters as those games have been Xbox exclusives for a while I believe, maybe Joanna Dark from Perfect Dark since you brought up Rare, and if Nintendo can put in cutesy characters like jigglypuff then maybe MS could put in some pinatas from Viva Pinata lol.

Edison trent from freelancer... microsoft lacks a stable of goofy characters. Everyone either has a ship or a mech if you want to go back to the days of mechwarrior and such.

If there was a way to let you import your own Commander Shepard, that would be completely awesome, and Revan from KOTOR would be a friggin sweet unlockable character. Not many other choices, though.

The problem is, Microsoft has a habit of favoring later releases (usually by a full year) on other consoles rather than exclusives. If they had some of those games as exclusives instead, you could have the Big Daddy from Bioshock or Ryu Hayabusa and Ayame from Ninja Gaiden/Dead or Alive and probably some others I'm not thinking of right at the moment.

Cortana, Blinx, Tartarus... Can't really think of many more exclusive characters that haven't been mentioned.
