DAILY MANIFESTO

The Download February 7th, 2013

Posted on Thursday, February 7 @ 17:24:32 Eastern by

This week's download is brought to you buy corporations that make heaps and heaps of cash off of you and me by limiting our bandwidth, or artificially choking our internet service because they've been peering over our shoulders and they don't like the websites we visit. These companies bilk us for 10x the cost of infrastructure!

If you're confused, I just paid my cell phone bill and I'm pissed. Let's get to the list:

Nintendo eShop

This week's eShop update is already dead, but with a little concentration training, it too can be a legendary titan... of Soccer. Or something like that. Here's the list:
Xbox Live Arcade

Xbox Live's latest release is a third-person cover shooter where the map is made up of player choices. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but it might be worth it to check out the demo. PlayStation Network

If you need more on the newly added software for PlayStation platforms, PSLS's weekly PSN update is my source for The Download and you don't need to be a fanboy to visit. Steam

Are you French? Are you a developer? Boy does Steam have new games for you!
  • DIVO - PC
  • 3DMark - PC Software
  • Special Forces: Team X - PC
  • Bientot l'ete - PC/Mac
  • Cities XL Platinum - PC

After Burner Climax

Some of you might not know this but I wrote for another site before GameRevolution. It was an all-app-review site. You would not believe some of the iOS applications I had to review. The worst games in the world are iPhone games from Chinese copycat developers. One such game was an After Burner rip off that had no enemies, just you in your F16 Fighter Jet, flying around shooting with crazy homemade sound effects.

Thankfully, SEGA's done a good job to bring After Burner Climax to the iPhone properly. Tons of levels, incredible frame rate, and a great sense of speed take me back to the Japanese arcades packed with SEGA cabs all shouting for the few 100 yen pieces I had left in my pocket. Plus, I love After Burner Climax's "Tap to Start" attract mode.

I haven't played it myself, but I've been told that the 3DS ports of Splinter Cell are the worst versions of the games, hands down.

It absolutely is!! If you like LoL/Dota at all, you will enjoy it. The contols take a bit to get used to, but they work great for a controller!

I've heard good things about it for a PS3 MOBA. Here's Vincent's review:

Megaman 2, here I come. So what if I have played it several...hundred...thousand times since 1989? Don't you judge me!

I've been dying for a Tetris Attack released on the 3DS eShop and I played that far too much way back when. No one judges you here :)
