After all these years, and growing up with Windows 3.1, I have seen an entire evolution of computers and software. Touch screens and large resolutions were a pipe dream just 15 years ago. Now it's the norm. Going from a Packard Bell (yes, before HP) that couldn't run 3D Ultra Mini...

The End Of Jack Thompson?

Posted on Tuesday, November 27 @ 16:50:21 PST by Duke_Ferris
Today finally begins the ethics trial of Jack Thompson. Wait!? I can hear you wondering aloud; Jack Thompson has ethics?

Well, that's what the state of Florida is determined to find out.

This is a long time in coming, as wacky Jack has managed to delay this hearing time and again. To slow things down, in the past he's filed his own suit against the Florida bar accusing them of trying to ruin him because of the bar's pro-gay, liberal bias. He's tried to add the ECA and Game Politics to that paranoid fantasy of a lawsuit. He's insulted a judge until the judge was forced to recuse himself from the case. He's filed court documents containing random gay porn.

But the last part of that circus that was dismissed last week. So Jack made an emergency appeal to the Florida Supreme Court to try and delay further. It was denied.

Today a disciplinary hearing will begin, as the Florida Bar Association brings forward complaints from at least five different lawyers accusing Mr. Thompson of professional and ethical misconduct.

While this is a disbarment proceeding (ie. You are not a lawyer anymore. Fail.), that is not the only possible outcome. Jack has been before the Bar before and walked away with fines and slaps on the metaphorical wrist.

But this time things look more serious, the entire week has been set aside just to hear this one case. Is this finally it? Will Jack finally be disbarred?
