The perils of the Hype Train…
By shandog137

The recent release of Evolve and The Order 1886 really got me to thinking about the disparity between the perspective of sales-driven publishers and the quality-driven purchases of consumers. The “Hype Train” is nothing new, but the way it is utilized has been creating far more...

The People Speak - Apologize To The Wii U

Posted on Wednesday, February 13 @ 19:09:14 Eastern by

This week's TPS report can't be quantified, it can't even be tallied or added up. It's not a number. It's a feeling. And Jonathan Leack is here to make sure it's not hurt. If you feel you've been slighted by GameRevolution, take a number. Jonathan will be with you shortly.

It should be known that Leack Attack's whopping 15 thumbs up mean he's firmly in the lead for the seven day period leading up to this post. Of course, Chunibrow's two comments combine for 18 thumbs up, meaning he's in the lead sooo... Let's get to the list!

Xbox Founder Says The Past Five Years Have Been Painful To Watch

10 Thumbs Up - 0 Thumbs Down

I think any console who's priority is not gaming is missing the mark. Most people who buy consoles buy them for gaming, not to have an all-in-one media center. If the former is being sacrificed for the latter, the demographic that has kept consoles alive all these years are being shat on, and we are all one step closer to being PC only users.

Sidhe Co-Founder: Wii U Projects Canceled, "Platform Is In Serious Trouble"

I bought a wii U day one (I'm a nerd.... deal) and in a sick way I want to see them fail. I can't stand the dumb decisions they continue to make and would almost rather them just be a third party developer on more powerful systems (as long as they don't turn to complete crap like sega). I would rather play a metroid game on PS4 over wii U any day of the week. Anytime I play a Nintendo game these days I think "this game is great.... but imagine how much better it would look/be with 360/ps3 graphics".

Why Anti-Used Game Consoels Could Be A Good Thing

7 Thumbs Up - 1 Thumbs Down

"The thing is, if someone is buying used games, none of their money is going to the developer anyway."

...and to that I say "so f*cking what?" Why should video games be exempt from a secondary market? Damn near everything can be bought used if you want to go that route, you don't hear other industries crying about it. A smart business person takes advantage of the secondary market, they don't try to destroy it.

Take cars, for example. You want to buy a new car, most dealerships will take your old car as trade in towards the new one. They then get to turn around and sell your old car to someone that can't or won't pay full price for a new one. Everybody makes out on the deal. If publishers really want to make money, instead of trying to crush the Gamestops of the world by shutting down used sales, they'd start selling used games themselves.

I'm sorry you find the article offensive. I own a Wii U with four games and a Wii U Pro controller. If I want to be on the negative side I think I've purchased my right to. :)
