Kinect launches on Thursday. Today is Tuesday. Why are these people camping out over 24 hours?

The fact that people are waiting out in New York City's Times Square isn't surprising. What is surprising is the demographic of consumers currently hanging around outside Toys "R" Us.

Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg "tweeted" (God, I hate that word) this picture earlier today:

These people look like they could be hanging around outside for the next Halo game, not Microsoft's bid for casual gaming moms, dads, and little sisters. It is important to note that the first 3,000 people to purchase a Kinect from the Times Square Toys "R" Us will also receive a copy of Kinect Sports, Kinect Joy Ride, and a year of Xbox Live Gold for free.

These guys are totally flipping that bundle on eBay.

Are they really in line, or did Greenberg just say "Pose for this picture and I'll give you $100 each. Make sure we cover all the major ethnic groups!" I guess that's smart marketing.

They're probably in line so they can get one and then put it on Ebay, thinking that they're going to be sold out an unavailable like the PS3 and Wii launches were.
