TJ Combo's Golden Gloves Return To Killer Instinct

Posted on Wednesday, June 11 @ 19:30:00 Eastern by KevinS

Continuing to release new characters, Microsoft Studios was showing off the first of the newest batch of characters for its "Season 2" of Killer Instinct releases. The classic brawler this time is none other than the boxer TJ Combo, the all-American world champion complete with star-spangled trunks. In a match one of the reps there to show him off, I got the chance to actually get my hands on a controller to punch the crap out of stuff, and I'm glad I did.

Combo feels great, quick enough with plenty of power and flair. He was as easy to pick up as he was back when he was let loose twenty years ago, and fighting against him was a tough task. TJ Combo is, as his presentation would indicate, a serious in-your-face styled fighter with a love for the jab to set up and a just-strong-enough punch to do some damage within the absurd amount of juggling.

I might have not been particularly good with a character I had no way of practicing before, but watching that guy beat the hell out of me was a treat; the fluidity of the combos is there and impressive to watch.

TJ Combo will be dropping in Fall of this year, so everybody can check out the gloved warrior then. The end of the trailer was a bit evocative, however. What an interesting glow. It's almost as if a cinder or two was glowing back there...
