Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Revealed

Posted on Thursday, December 9 @ 12:59:20 Eastern by

According to Entertainment Weekly, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (not "World of Deceit") will hit stores late 2011 and center around the spy-vs.-spy nature of the treasure hunting business. It's all about who can out-fake whom.

Drake's newest adventure will have his father tag along on a journey to a lost city, like the "Iram of the Pillars" and the "Atlantis of the Sands", in the Arabian Peninsula and to the Rub' al Khali Desert. So expect a sandy palette more akin to Prince of Persia's than the lushness of tropical jungles. The plot draws from both the adventures of Sir Francis Drake and T.E. Lawrence's early years as an archaeologist.

As for an expanded arsenal, Drake will be able to climb backward more effectively and brawl against multiple enemies at a time. There will also be a stronger emphasis on the online multiplayer and co-op capabilities, perhaps following EA's recent suggestion that single player-only games are dead.

The first trailer for Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is expected to air on Spike Videogame Awards on Dec. 11.

It looks gorgeous, and from what I hear the Uncharted games are really fun. This is one of only a handful of games that have me even contemplating picking up a PS3.
