Voice Chat Catches Criminals
Posted on Friday, October 1 @ 14:19:52 Eastern by danielrbischoff
A gamer was robbed while playing online and officials say voice chat helped to identify one of the suspects.
The Salt Lake Tribune is reporting that a man was attacked in his home while he was playing games online with his friends. The other players heard the commotion through the headset being used and one of them rushed over in time to see the suspects fleeing the scene in the victims car.
One of them was removing his mask and Player 2 identified him as an acquaintance.
Let's just hope that Player 2's kill/death spread wasn't affected too badly by his leaving home to help his buddy.
One thing I hate: the lead in the Tribune's story starts with "A late-night online gaming session turned violent...." How did the gaming session turn violent? A guy was fucking beaten and robbed. Violence entered the situation whether he was playing games or not.

You know some clown out there is going to use that as some dumb ass excuse to try and crusade against video games, again. I really wish there was a really efficient way to help everyone pull their collective heads out of their asses, and stop blaming games for everything that goes wrong with the people who play em'. But then again, maybe he was one of those little ****-talking sissies who likes to scream obcenities over his headset, and someone just got annoyed and decided to smack him. I'd understand that.
