After all these years, and growing up with Windows 3.1, I have seen an entire evolution of computers and software. Touch screens and large resolutions were a pipe dream just 15 years ago. Now it's the norm. Going from a Packard Bell (yes, before HP) that couldn't run 3D Ultra Mini...

Voodoo VS Alienware

Posted on Wednesday, April 4 @ 14:52:08 PST by Duke_Ferris
After Dell bought Alienware last year to produce high-end gaming rigs, everyone else had to play catch-up or get left in the dust.

Hewlett Packard's answer was to agree to acquire Voodoo PC, and they're holding a press conference and party in San Francisco in a few hours. I have to go and attend, but I already can guess what they're going to say: "We've finished buying Voodoo and check out these cool gaming rigs."

I also bet they plan on incorporating their new Touchsmart line with Voodoo, which could be very cool, and bring us ever closer to Jeff Han's awesome prototypes. I really want to play Supreme Commander on that thing.

I build all of GR's desktop computers myself, but I think today I'll have to carefully explain to HP how they really need to give us some Envy laptops to review.

UPDATE: It's like HP reads the Manifesto, and I'm psychic. They just bought a bunch of advertising on GR for Envy laptops and other Voodoo rigs, starting today.
