Watch This Medal of Honor Ad Under the Influence

Posted on Tuesday, October 5 @ 11:51:22 Eastern by danielrbischoff

I hate to admit it, but I was in a bar last night. I was in a bar on a Monday night. That sad fact is the only reason I saw this ad for Medal of Honor during Monday Night Football.

I wasn't even sure if I wanted to go. My old college room mate is leaving for Europe this week, and last night was about sending him off with a drink in hand. This meant there were plenty of people I didn't know or didn't care for, but hey, he's my pal and I was going to make sure he had a good time.

The Patriots and the Dolphins were on TV. I could give two shits about football or many sports honestly. What did catch my attention? This ad for Medal of Honor.

Seeing it now, with the audio along with it, it's a lot less impressive. Who knows. Maybe I need to be under the influence for this kind of stuff to work on me, but there is a huge disparity between what I thought about the ad last night and what I thought about it this morning before noon after a long night.

Medal of Honor seems like a bit of a flat mess, and with all the Taliban/OpFor hubbub, is there anything to really care about? Can't it just be an awesome game? Why does it have to be so goddam serious?

That's just how games are starting to evolve. Many companies are trying to get as realistic as possible, which is nice in some respects because it tends to level the playing field somewhat (i.e. thinking tactfully rather than being able to rocket jump better). But I think a lot of companies are doing the realism thing because it's harder and harder to find a storyline that hasn't been attempted at least once before. Either way, Medal of Honor doesn't really interest me. Now Brink on the other hand...

    3 Words. BATTLEFIELD 3 BETA.

If it turns out to be a good game then kudos.

Will the Battlefield 3 beta be coupled with the game? I didn't realize that. Still not sure I'd pay $60 for a beta.

Comes with the limited. I will. Although I will feel sorely hard done to if they decide that "Squad play is now what it's all about", and that "Orange triangles are the way to go".

Brink has me very interested too, though I haven't heard or seen or read much about that title either. With all the news I have to handle, I've been much more "in the moment" than "forcasting" lately.

BF3 has me very interested too... but only so long as they bring back the field commander role

"We've sacrificed so much of our lives to become what we are, and we can help them understand...". So we're supposed to be, like, impressed that they're using they're world-class killing people skills to make video games? Sure, they're kinda cool games, but all this pro-American military **** really pisses me off... Arent games supposed to be about aliens, or at least something fictional and cool? Isn't escapism the whole point? Or is it just me?
