What are you playing? 10/22/2011

Posted on Saturday, October 22 @ 10:45:00 Eastern by

It's no secret that I'll be heading back to Batman: Arkham City for more time as the Dark Knight. I've still got plenty of Riddler trophies to collect and even more side quests to complete. I might even start a new game to get myself up to speed for the challenge rooms.

Maybe Battlefield 3 will show up in my mailbox at some point before Tuesday... Who knows?

What are you playing?

I enjoy it, but I'm a pretty big fan of the series. I think you'd have to be, because there are tons of bugs. It saddens me that a company would release a game with so many problems. But, once past them, I enjoy the game. Cant wait for the big updates to hit and fix some of the problems.

    Worth a go

I've been meaning to pick that up. Is the campaign alone worth it? I can't say I'd play much multiplayer.

I love it so far, the story is pure G1. Amazingly for an action game, there is a lot of dialogue. I don't know how long the campaign is, because I play it off and on over the course of the week, but I'd say its about 8 hours or so. The missions are really long. If you like Transformers G1, there is a lot of stuff for the fans... like Starscream starting off as an Autobot. O.o I just started the Autobots campaign, so far it has a slightly different feel than the Decepticon campaign. You have to play them both for the whole story, and you start off as Decepticons.

You know they are making a Transformers MMO? I'm not holding my breath, but supposedly, its based on G1. It may not suck but it likely will. As for the title you mentioned, was that Dark of the Moon? Or Revenge of the Fallen?

War for Cybertron plays like Gears of War minus a cover mechanic, before every mission you can select which Transformer to play as from a selection of 3. The game itself is challenging but not 'hard'. What I like is every Transformer is in their pre-G1 form, both in vehicle and humanoid mode. That means that Optimus isn't an Earth-truck, more of a Cybertronian super-Truck that hovers, and then forms wheels when you use Boost, the wheels are normally the hoverpods, they just swing into a 'wheel' position for the boost. Kinda neat.

Dark Souls ... I've sunk 38 hours into that badboy already and no-where near to completing it just killed Queelag the Chaos Witch, took dying a lot of times before I eventually summoned two NPC's to fight by my side and destroyed her... amazing battle. Can't wait to upgrade my +10 Falchion with Quelaags soul to make the fury sword... have to get through Fens indiana jones-esque Fortress... a minefield of traps... love it!

Pretty close to 40 hours. It might take longer then Ithought because the end game areas are even more sadistically challenging then I thought they would be.

Finished Rage on it's Nightmare difficulty and I kinda wish I got Dark Souls instead. I might be making unfair comparisons having thoroughly played Fallout and Borderlands though. Question to those of you playing Dark Souls, could you compare it to a 3D Zelda game but a lot more hardcore?

I heard some one compare Dark Souls to Punch Out, and it surprisingly fits . You have to learn each bosses attacks and defends so you can properly attack, dodge, and defend. Now there is a lot more to Dark Souls than boss fights but they are the toughest and most rewarding parts of the game.

Just finished Deus Ex. Gonna take it back in about an hour and rent out something else. Any idea for Xbox? Picked up Alice: Madness Returns yesterday on a Steam weekend deal. Played it about an hour last night. Lots of fun. Battlefield 3 on Monday (or next week sometime at least).

Negative. Last boss was kinda weak. And I did what you guys said in the review: Save right before my choice then reload and choose another. Maybe I was just in a bad mood cause the game was ending and I had such a blast with it (and I knew I had to take it back) but it just seems they fell short on it.

Great so far (6 hours in). The battle system is complex and very well done. The story is interesting and they did a great job with the English voice acting. The only thing I'm not completely comfortable with are the camera controls, but that's probably because I'm used to dual sticks on my PS3.

Rage, Doom II, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Final Fantasy VII, Dues Ex Human Revolution, Resistance 3, and Gears 3. All at the same time.

I found the Wolfenstein room in Rage, which made me want to play Wolfenstein 3D, which is an unlockable in Return to Castel Wolfenstein for Xbox. So I turn on my Xbox, and I remember that this Xbox is actually my second one...cause the first one died. Damn you, cruel fate. Damn your f*cking eyes.
