What are you playing? 10/29/2011

Posted on Saturday, October 29 @ 10:30:00 Eastern by

While I've got a memorial service to go to this morning, I'll probably back into Battlefield 3 doing my damnest to get in a jet and level it up to a real piece of weaponry. I'm also going to be working my way through even more Riddler challenges and Combat Challenges in Arkham City. My copy of Skyrim won't be in until next week but we'll have an awesome unboxing of the Collector's Edition for you once it arrives. Now...

What are you playing?

Stared up Freedom Force and have Deus Ex waiting in the wings. Also randomly kicking the crap out of bosses in Etrian Odyssey III and Frozen Throne's Campaign.

Freedom Force! I loved that game's multiplayer... getting all the AI followers... played that a lot with my friend in high school.

I'm actually pretty far into my unlocks for the jets now in Battlefield 3, it's been a lot more fun since unlocking the homing missles, and I've even found some sort of wingman tactics. Several of my jet kills have been while an enemy jet has been chasing the other jet on my team. Evasive maneuvers are fun too, I've got a lot of jets off my back by flying between towers and rolling to fly through sideways while the guy trying to lock onto me clips his wings =)

What would you say is the easiest way to level up the Jets and helicopters?

The first kill with the jets has to be with the machine guns, but they've also become one of my most relied upon weapons and only one in which you can spot enemies yourself. 2nd unlock is flares, which are a godsend to earn because everyone who has the next unlock (heat seekers) are going to be targeting other jets specifically. You'll hear a beeping and when it turns constant, you've been locked on by enemy jet or engineer with the right launcher. The heat seekers are a lot of fun to use, but expect dodging and weaving because they hear that beeping warning too, and it takes an ungodly amount of time to lock on to a jet with the next unlock stealth, which increases lock time and reduces spotted duration. This is where your machine guns come back into use for jet fighting and the next unlock belt speed (reduces gun reload). Still, yet to earn air to ground missiles, but news is jets are getting some sort of buff in next patch.

I'm still grinding away at Arkham City until MW3 and Skyrim drop, and my housemates have discovered the joys of MW2 since we got internet re-activated. I also still hop on Borderlands on occasion. I really need to get a new headset so I can play that crap online. Turns out people really don't like to play games like Borderlands and Portal 2 with people they can't talk to.

Discovered Civilization Revolution recently & have been playing that. Don't have the money to pick up all of the new awesome games coming out (this gaming season is WAY better than last). Going to wait on reviews to settle my MW3 or Skyrim dilemma.

Civilization Revolution is a good game, but the big boy (PC) versions are way better. Civ IV will run on almost any PC that's six years old or younger.

Yeah, I have all the "big boy" versions too. I'm really enjoying CivRev though & prefer it to the others in many regards. Not having to micromanage everything is a lot of fun, and it's very satisfying to finish a game in a single sitting.

Yeah, micromanaging can be a pain, and CivRev is more fast paced.

xxlords: CivRev is definitely more approachable, but to get the full, classic Civ experience Civ IV is considered one of the best games.

Wolverine Adamantium Rage for SNES, which is an infuriating piece of sh*t and a bit of WRC World Rally Championship from BAM Entertainment for the good ol' PS2, which is a great game I sometimes go back to.

Umm.... Terraria, and Deadliest Catch: Alaskan Storm (or whatever its called). I don't know why, honestly, as far as Deadliest Catch goes. That is about the most unexciting (Not really 'bad') game out there, but it has a certain sort of charm to it. Also playing Rage (again), while waiting for Skyrim.

Been playing Thief 2 for the first time in years (I'd forgotten how utterly brilliant that game is), the TF2 Halloween event, and Die2Nite, an interesting little game where you and 39 other people have to survive for as long as possible in a post-zombie-apocalypse settlement.

This is my 2nd login since January of 2009. I have to say, GR changed a lot. As for the games, I'm playing MW2, ES4 - Oblivion, and Amnesia The Dark Descent(saw this in that Halloween games list too). I can't wait for Skyrim and MW3 to come out.

Just got BF3 yesterday, punched out the campaign waiting for my internet to uncap so I can try the multi-player, praying my xbox won't explode. Can't wait till I've saved up enough money to get a decent gaming pc so I can join the ranks of the elite.

Battlefield 3, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, Rage, and Driver: San Francisco on PC for me. BF3 looks ****ing AMAZING on Ultra settings with DirectX 11. But I hate Origin, and I hope it explodes.
