What Are You Playing? August 18th, 2012

Posted on Saturday, August 18 @ 10:30:00 Eastern by

I'm clearly going insane. If it wasn't evident in my stream-of-consciousness liveblogging earlier this week during Gamescom or yesterday's episode of GameRevolution Radio, I've lost all my marbles.

Well, I haven't lost them really, I've just packed them up and stored them in a Uhaul truck. I'm moving north to Santa Clara, CA this weekend and while I'm sure video games, my TV, my computer, etc etc will be the first to be unpacked, I don't think I'll necessarily get down on them right away. Instead, it's moving-boxes Tetris as an empty one-bedroom apartment slowly becomes a furnished one.

Hey, my life doesn't keep you from playing video games though, so tell us…

What are you playing?

I've been playing so much Fallout: New Vegas. I'm deciding not to complete the main story. Instead, work on the side quest. Those damn Deathclaws are b*tches!

I just want to add that The Walking Dead is probably my favorite downloadable title ever. Episode 2 had been as suspenseful and entertaining as Heavy Rain was. Highly recommended!

Refusing to buy Darksiders 2 til I finish darksiders 1. I'm slacking and have been busy at work, school starting back up too and counting down to Borderlands 2.

It's a great game. There is so much content in Darksiders 2, I don't even know where to begin. I'm about... 28 hours into it? I think I'm a little over halfway through the campaign.

Replaying Final Fantasy X (the last great Final Fantasy)

If they had to do a sequel, one that focused on the Machina War 1,000 years previous (or something serious like that) would have been much cooler than the weird J-pop/girly game that came out instead.

The sequel was... interesting. I realized Im secure enough in my masculinity to play that game. And I like all the pretty dresses... er, um dress spheres I mean.

It's not really a question of masculinity (which I'm quite secure in, since you inferred otherwise) to not enjoy a game as much as its predecessor when the focus is more about dressing up the characters than the story, especially when there is enough lore in the universe Square created to tell a better story than they did in the sequel.

I saw it more like FFs version of a washed up child actor, in this case summoner, trying to make a living in the world... Yuna is Todd Bridges.

FFX-2 is actually one of the best games in the series when it comes to the battle system. The story is complete crap, and they reused most of the areas from FFX, but if you can ignore that it's actually just a lot of fun to run around and fight stuff. Once you've unlocked enough dress spheres (and turned off the dress switching animation) you can do all sorts of cool stuff by switching in and out of various roles.

I felt it kinda was like the old school FF games where you could switch classes on the same character. Some people were most likely thrown off by the all female team I guess.

I have to finish P3P before P4G comes out so a lot of that. Possibly some Gravity Rush and I'm sure I'll make some time for Mortal Kombat.

There will be no PC gaming for me since the coke that my wife spilled on my computer killed it.

I think I might get around to finishing Darksiders. As an aside, my Umbrella Corporation umbrella finally showed up today. It's approximately 83% more awesome than any other umbrella I've owned. Sadly, it's actually ridiculously nice out this weekend, so I won't get a chance to test it.

Finally got my new gaming rig up & running, so I've been playing a little StarCraft 2, LoL, and a lot of BF3 to test it out. BF3 is sooooooo much better on the pc than on consoles. Otherwise, I'm just biding my time until Guild Wars 2.

i would like to play skyward sword, and i will, but i absolutely hate motion controls. the wii remote isn't always responsinve and my nuchuck can't tell the difference between a shield bash and a spin attack. that's why i like xenoblade, a wii game that doesn't use motion controls

SS has some annoying moments with the controls, but they generally work very well. Xenoblade IS awesome, by the way. Go for it.
