What Are You Playing? February 25th, 2012

I received Rayman Origins from Gamefly this week, and am mostly enjoying it. I will be playing that and possibly Alan Wake's American Nightmare.

I haven't started it yet. I will comment on this post once I do.

Playing Rayman Origins as well. Would have skipped this if it weren't for GR, and it ends up being the best platformer I've played in ten years.

Same here, I do not think I would have added it to my queue if not for GR. I am liking it a lot better now. I am normally not much of a platforming fan, aside from Megaman games really. Once I got used to how the game flows I find myself enjoying it a lot more.

Do tabletop RPGs count? Pathfinder.

How is that? I played a lot of D&D 3.5 & 4E and am curious about Pathfinder since I heard it was selling so well.

It's really fun if you liked D&D 3.5. It's more like 3.75. Everything that you love about 3.5 is still there, but its been tweaked, and stuff added. Every class now has more abilities than ever before. It's kind of hard to explain, you'd really have to just check it out.

Cool, will have to do that. My friends & I prefer 4E, but we do miss the endless & complex character construction possibilities of 3.5.

I love 4E too, but I also love Pathfinder for different reasons. They tweaked the classes in Pathfinder, imagine the classes, how they're so different from each other like in 4E, then make it 3.75 with rules tweaks and other stuff. Some examples of tweaks: 0-level spells can be cast as many times as you like (still have a limited amount of spell slots, they just aren't used up when cast), wizard schools provide unique abilities (as opposed to just +2 caster level on certain spells), rogues now can learn 'rogue tricks' which are unique abilities, kind of like feats but not. Cleave (the feat) now hits 2 targets as long as you hit the target (as opposed to 3.5's dropping to 0 to hit another), and Power attack is now a flat -2 to hit for +4 damage. There are also archetypes, as in, alternations to the base class. Like for rogues there are rooftop rogues, swashbuckler rogues/etc, they alter the classes innate abilities. They're like the class-kits from 2nd ED.

I like Pathfinder and 3.5, but had too much against 4e to really try it out ever. I've already read an article about Wotc playtesting 5e already because 4e is such a flop.

4E wasn't a flop, really, but hey, I respect your opinion. I hope that 5E is more suited to your tastes. =)

I'm enjoying the hell out of my Vita with Rayman Origins and an unhealthy amount of Lumines.

Is it a remake of the old Hot Shots Golf or is it a brand new game? I played the hell out of the original one.

It's a blast and a half man. Very replayable, and if you have PS move, it makes it even better in my opinion.

Dark Souls, about to get my ass kicked by the both in the Depths (as if being the ***** of the Capra Demon wasn't enough)

Playing some TOR and RE:Revelations. Played some game dev story while waiting for an oil change today and finally figured out how to make my own console.

You have to level all of the jobs for one of your workers to 5 then you will be able to level them as a hardware engineer (the requirement for consoles). I'm liking Revelations alot. really liking the scare factor in the main story.

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo. It is awesome. I'm curious now if I will lose all my progress when the game comes out though. If anyone wants to add me: Sweet InsaniTea. Like in this week's podcast, please let me know that you're so-and-so from GR. Thanks.

I think you would since it's a demo. I didn't really think the progress would be kept.

Finally got around to starting Deus Ex:Human Revolution. Just finished the part where you rescue the hostages from the poison bomb. Pretty good so far.

Playing Gotham Imposters, Mass Effect 3 Demo, Fallen Earth, Dungeon Defenders, Resident Evil Revelations, and Fallout New Vegas.
I honestly don't know how I squeeze time for all of these games.

Maybe muck around with the Starhawek beta a bit. I'm somewhat tempted to buy Deus Ex since it's only ten bucks on Steam this weekend.

Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and... Spyro: Year of the Dragon. For some reason.

Yeah' I'm playing the PSN version. The original and Pandora Tomorrow didn't age particularly well, but Chaos Theory is very much worth the 15$. To this day, I still hold the bank level as the best stealth mission in any game ever.
The multiplayer isn't in the HD rerelease, but since I never played it in the first place, I'm not missing it.

Nothing really my new PC died on me, so it's back to this old thing until I can get it fixed.

It won't start up so who knows.

KoA:Reckoning. 60 hours in and no end in sight.

The House of Valor is a fun quest line, yeah. I don't know if its worth the price of buying new, I guess that would depend on your personal tastes, but I enjoyed it. Keep in mind, I think Dead Island is a fantastic game so my tastes are not that good in games. =P

Yeah, I went with Deus Ex and the Missing Link DCL, I even dropped the extra few cents for the preorder bonus packs. It wound up being a total of sixteen bucks and change. That's a pretty damn good deal I think. It's downloading right now, so I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but there's always next weekend.

Final Fantasy VI (for the first time, and it might just be better than Chrono Trigger) on the GBA, and Resident Evil 4 on the PS2. I've been having an oldschool month.

just recently finished FF XIII-2 and working on getting the last trophy, but after that i'll be all over the MGS collection
