What Are You Playing? July 21st, 2012

Posted on Saturday, July 21 @ 10:30:00 Eastern by

This weekend is the final Guild Wars 2 beta event, so I'll be heading... to the computer and sitting in front of it. Many fans will be pointed at me too so I'll be... enjoying the beautiful summer weather. If I can convince someone else to go with me (or myself to go alone) I might see The Dark Knight Rises again before the weekend is over. We'll see....

Also, the Steam Summer Sale has loaded me up with a bunch of stuff I want to play. Let's see if I can't buck the trend and actually get down to business with my library of bargains! But enough about me....

What are you playing?

Picked up (among many other games) The Witcher 2 from the Steam sale. So I'm playing that and so far I'm loving it.

If I knew I could run that I would have picked it up too. I'll have to wait for the next sale though.

With the purchase of on sale games my wishlist has gotten to an all time low of 14 selections. I have a problem, but luckily this comes once a year... oh the winter sale... Fuck!

I'm taking a break from MGS to play Final Fantasy IX. I feel confident I'll finish it this time. I'd really like to finish at least one FF in my lifetime, and IX is my favorite. I'm on disc 2, grinding Dagger and Steiner. Zidane and co. were lv.16 at the end of disc 1, Dagger and Steiner were lv. 6 and the start of disc 2 :S

Once I'm done with / tired of FFIX, I'll finish up MGS3 and start Peace Walker.

Keep it up. FFIX doesn't have the best story, but I love the game world. In terms of art design it's by far my favorite FF game.

I'd like to do the same. Still want to power through FFVII and VIII all the way through as well. Got quite far in all three but never managed to close the book on any of them

I am thoroughly enjoying right now because the gameplay offers you numerous combinations of tactics to take down tangos. I enjoy trying every one.

This kind of freedom is something that UbiSoft always NAILS (Rainbow 6 Vegas, Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed, etc.)

I sold Starhawk and Max Payne 3 to subsidize the cost of buying it new. Getting it on sale would be a steal, it's a lot of fun and there's some good challenge to it as well. I could use a bit more polish but Capcom has a solid game to base a franchise on.

Wish I was playing GW2 Beta. So far today I played eat German food followed by fix PC drivers. I may play some more Super Talking Time Brothers once I crack open the Crown Royal Black. May do some more MW3 SP/MP or more Treasure Adventure Game.

I picked up Portal 2 and Bullet Storm on the Steam sale, and am seriously contemplating picking up Batman: AC, but I haven't touched either.

If you know you're going to want to play AC, just get it. It's really good. Regardless, play Portal 2 first.

Yeah, but then later I started the second one to see how good the graphics are and I get a constant frame skipping glitch so I can't even play the game no matter what I do. Oh well, at least the first one is good.

There's a little game not too many people have heard of that came out last November. It's called Skyrim, and has been on sale periodically all week on Steam. You might want to look into it.

Fallout: New Vegas. When it actually works it's a fantastic game. I have to save every 15 minutes or so because it has the amazing ability to freeze and crash during loading screens and corrupt my autosave. Just finished the Old World Blues and Lonesome Road dlc's again. Only have a few more Achievements to do, but this will likely be my last playthrough of the game. 66/75 finished is good enough for me.

I just picked up KOTOR off the steam sale, playing it for probably the 8th time now (first time on a mac though!) I would like to play Spec Ops: The Line because I hear such good things about the story arc, but I can't justify $60 on a military shooter. All well I guess I'll have to weather the summer drought until a price drop in the fall when every other game I'm looking forward to releases simultaneously. How to game companies not get this? Even if you released a moderately good game now it would get sales because no one has anything new to play!

Spec Ops definitely has an awesome story, but even taking into account the immense amount of enjoyment I got from it I wouldn't say it's worth more than $20.
