LATEST FEATURESBeing A Console Is Actually Xbox One's Worst Asset
Microsoft's newest console has lots of different features, but video games might hold the device back from the software giant's true intentions.
Before Microsoft and Sony do something regarding their future in the video game business, I wanted to write, and I've wanted it for a long time now, but other things kept getting in my way, and fearing that tomorrow might be too late, today will have to do.

What Are You Playing? March 15th, 2013
Posted on Saturday, March 16 @ 10:30:00 Eastern by Daniel Bischoff
Need For Speed: Most Wanted U and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, two games that just couldn't help but capitalize on that whole U thing are in rotation this weekend for reviews going out early next week. I sure wish I could have been set up with some multiplayer partners for Monster Hunter, what with that being a huge focus of the game, but maybe I can find a few Japanese friends to play with.
Most Wanted U will be an easy review thanks to the fact that it's almost the same game from last Fall. I love Criterion's work and the sense of speed, but I'm still waiting to see if 150mph still feels like 150mph on the GamePad's screen. Also Persona 4 Golden. Always Persona 4 Golden.
I had this inexplicable urge to play Pokémon this week, so I dusted off ye olde DS and got SoulSilver ('cause I don't particularly care about the Gen V designs... Garbage bag pokémons? Fuck off.) Fun times.
Heart Gold and Soul Silver were excellent remakes. Before X and Y were announced, there were rumors of a 3D Ruby/Sapphire remake, and I would have been on board for that. Also, as a general GR tip, gamestop is doing one of their free rare pokemon downloads this month.
Holy hell, I haven't played a Pokemon game since the original Gold and Silver games back in the day. I know Pokemon games were originally designed for kids, but they really are fun for any age range and really have withstood the test of time. Nearly 20 years old and still popular.
I'm on Spring Break and it's St. Paddy's Day weekend. I'm playing the most realistic drinking simulator available. I'm going to be the guy that reminds everyone why it's called a Pub Crawl. I'm going... okay, I'm going out tonight, then I'm going to play some Ni No Kuni tomorrow while I recover. Happy Irish Day!
47% now. Green Man Gaming has a good offer on a pre-order of the game. You get the original Bioshock plus you can pick of 1 of 5 games to get free with it. As well, they offer you cash back.
I cancelled my pre-order of Bioshock: Infinite at Best Buy to go with this offer.
Also, where is the Gears of War : Judgement demo available?
Yeah, I looked at the Green Man Gaming site and thier game offers. I already have the only game I'd want, I have games on Steam and GOG.com and I don't want more on another site.
Thanks for mentioning the Steam deal. I'm going to pre-order BioShock Infinite even though I wasn't planning on buying it right away just so I can get XCOM with it.
Pre-ordered Bioshock Infinite and Assassin's Creed 4. I haven't really done any actual playing over the past week or so though. At some point over the weekend I will (probably) be picking up at least one of the following:
Mass Effect 3: Citadel DLC Assassin's Creed 3: King George DLC Dead Space 3: Awakened DLC
I'm also excited to hear more about the next Borderlands 2 DLC. I read a preview about it and it sounds pretty cool. They're adding a new character (apparently it's melee-based) and a level cap increase.
That's kinda the plan. I played and enjoyed Leviathan, but a friend of mine said that Omega was pretty terrible so I haven't tried that one yet. He said Citadel was pretty good though.
StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm. Finished the campaign days ago, and I'm now messing around with the new units in multiplayer. Everyone who liked WoL should get it, even though my disappointment with it keeps slowly growing. Maybe new arcade mode stuff will redeem it......
Silent Hill: Book Of Memories. Despite how unusual the gameplay is for an SH game, I'm liking it, Zone 2 in particular creepily fits what I'm going through lovelife-wise, at least the first level, I haven't finished that zone yet. Also, as Daniel says, P4G, always P4G.
Yeah, I'ts kind of like with Catherine, a game with a weird gameplay, but a compelling storyline that makes it worth playing. Well, the gameplay here is not as weird per se, it is just weird for a Silent Hill game.
I've been playing God of War Ascension all week. The multiplayer is amazing, I played the multiplayer all night 3 nights in a row. I've also been playing the Gears of War Judgment demo and Diablo 3.
Been playing a lot of ranked LoL, rolling mostly Lux mid and Leona support. Excited for Zac's release, haven't played much top/jungle and think he could be a good entry to it.
Would love to duo. Im stuck in bronze still atm, just started getting back into LoL after taking a break at the end of s2 and lordy does it seem like queue's are terribad with trolls.
username: phoenixrisen - anyone feel free to add me and pm for some duo ranked. also love some dominion too.
OHHHH, btw whatcha think of the queue'd ARAM they're putting in? should be fun
I finished Tomb Raider with a 90% completion rate. I may go back to finish up the stuff I missed, I may not. I've got about ten days before I can get my hands on Bioshock Infinite, so I might have to have a look at the old backlog to see what to play between now and then. I might even put some into Mechwarrior Online. The next new mech coming out interests, me and I'll need to put together the credits to pick one up.
Yeah, im really enjoying it... the maps are fun and they actually play CTF, CONQUEST & RUSH pretty well... Ive also been having a blast on the dirtbike... I like loading it up with C4 ghost riding it into people... Though i did get banned from a server for doing that to the host, which i though was kinda funny...
Finished up the Roche run-through of Witcher 2, trying to decide if I have the patience to run through the other run-through or if I should just youtube all the cutscenes. It's the rock bottom of laziness when I don't have the energy to play through a video game.
Just installed Saints Row 3 and Sleeping Dogs (I'm in the S's of my unplayed Steam games), so I'll get to those soon.
On a side note, does anybody in GR play lord of the rings online?
My friends and I might start having regular retro multiplayer game nights, last night we played perfect dark. I love the feel of old school multiplayer games, it just occurred to me that every new one, while unique in its own way, is the same as every other
I can't say I've heard of killer instinct, but you're right, retro multiplayer is a whole lot of fun. I think my mates generally want to play Nintendo games but I want to get us into an unreal tournament night, that would be sweet
I LOVE UNREAL TOURNAMENT!!! I really wish today's shooter fans could appreciate classic shooters... I even enjoyed playing UT3 (360), though it was a classic style shooter it felt fresh in the crowded shooter genre... But the ranked matches died out within 3 months, and the player matches died out about a year later... I wish people still played that game...
Unreal Tournament 3 was the first game I played on my PS3 at the start of the generation. Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy it then because I wasn't expecting it to feel so retro, but in hindsight i'd probably love it now. I just remember playing the original one on PC, playing that map in space with the two towers, going to the top of the tower and getting "m-m-m-monster kills!!" by headshotting with the sniper rifle. ah, I really have to look into getting one of those for consoles
Final Fantasy XII. I never finished it (and it was my first FF game, too), and wanted to give it a go during spring break. The game looked quite a bit worse than I remember on my HDTV, at which point I discovered how far emulation software has come. Now I'm playing it on my computer with it set to render at 4 times its native resolution, and it looks quite nice.
Still haven't finished the game, but at least I got most of my ps2 game collection ripped into disk images.
I need to get into emulation, ff XII is quite the ugly game nowadays, I also never finished it and have been meaning to, but that's applies to pretty much the whole series for me
Borderlands 1 yesterday, finished Dead Space 3 Awakened today, and will probably play pure survival in the main campaign. Time permitting I will also be continuing Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.
Cruising through Okami on the Wii. I really like the game but I hate the unwieldly Wii controls at times. I have never played the game before, can't track down the PS2 version, and my PS3 is dead so I can't play the HD re release. Gonna soldier through and keep playing.
Yeah thanks to crap controls I lost a bunch of progress on my back to buy some healing items and I was going to save along the way and got killed just inches from the save spot. About 45 minutes lost!
Yeah. Instead of doing the smart thing and mapping Amaterasu's basic attack to a button, they decided to add Wii Waggle to do the attack, and it never registers at times, which leads to me getting hit. Also the slash move you do while in ink mode, to finish them off, never works like it should. I do it exactly as it was shown, and it never works out. Which made that slashing crap with Susano EXTREMELY annoying to pull off. Gonna snoop on Amazon and get a PS2 copy for sure
?? I played the monster hunter 3 demo on the wii u it is **** house , you walk through scene to scene how anoiying i was hoping for a open world experience , and i picked up need for speed for the xbox for 30 bucks ?? why would i pay 60 for the wii u version ?, looks like my wii u is going to collect more and more dust .
Been playing more Dust 514 than is probably good for me. Installed the Sims 3 as well - and might pick up SimCity (got a 25% discount code from EA support so that helps)
If I had a Wii U, or cash for a Wii U I'd grab Monster Hunter as well. I'm a Mh Fanboy through and through.
Dust is VERY much a work in progress, and very difficult. If you go into it expecting a standard FPS experience, you'll be in for a shock. Might actually write up a newbie guide or something. But once you get a foothold, and understand the concepts behind Dust (which is actually easier for EVE players), it's pretty simple. Needs more game modes though.
And I'm getting into SimCity now. I'm going to be a terrible mayor! :D I have actually tried adding you Daniel, but Origin says you don't exist. I think you broke reality.
i met Paul Eiding (roy campbell) at the adelaide comic con today, he signed my copy of mgs2 and when i asked him if he gets requested to say 'snake.... snake!!... SNAAAAAKE!!!' He offered to do it. he is such a loud man! didnt care at all that he turned so many heads. he's also very nice
Random responsible guy reporting in: I just got tomb raider for my birthday but added it to my back catalog that also includes ni no kuni. Once my exam is over April 5 I plan to go on a bender. tl;dr I am playing nothing

I haven't looked into ARAM much but I think it'll be a fun way to practice a certain character's ability timings.
