What Are You Playing? March 9th, 2013

Posted on Saturday, March 9 @ 10:45:43 Eastern by

I'll be playing Halo 4 today with some forum users, er, I'm not 100% sure on the time, but beyond that I might see who else has an early copy of God of War: Ascension and then proceed to rend them limb from limb. Next week's Olympus-sized blockbuster from Sony will surely turn a few heads... And then just keep turning them until they pop clean off.

And of course my curiosity killed me with SimCity but the experience should get better over the weekend. Oh and Persona 4: Golden. Always P4G.

What are you playing?

I know! The demo seriously underwhelmed me. I am still trying to figure out if I should pick it up day 1 or not, considering I have a ginormous stack of shame hanging around.

Couldn't tell you. My machine can barely handle Rome so I haven't had a chance to try Shogun 2 or any of the titles published subsequent to Rome.

I'm mostly prepping my computer for the SC2: Heart of the Swarm release on Tuesday, downloading pre-release patches and drivers. Talk on the GR forums has me wanting to play Sid Meier's Pirates & Spec Ops: The Line though, so that might happen too.

I'll be playing Tombraider. It came with my new video card of doom, which sadly I had to buy a new power supply to be able to run. So far the game is pretty damn good, though I'm only a couple hours in.

I finished off a co-op play of Dead Space 3 on Impossible with a buddy yesterday. Other than that I am not 100% certain. I am thinking I need to finish playing the few disc only things I have for PSP so I can get back to only owning TWO handhelds instead of three. If I do that, then I will probably play Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, since I never had the time to finish that before.

Other than that I may try to 100% my save file in Dead Space 3. There are artifacts that need collecting!

Tomb Raider is an amazing game, which I was not expecting at all. I plan on playing a second file and trying to find everything, which is something I rarely do.

When you beat the game you don't have to start a second file to go back and collect like crazy.

Finished Tomb Raider last night. Really liked it, but the end kind of felt anti-climactic. That's the problem with huge action games - they have a great narrative arc, but because of the nature of video games, they just kind of end, since no one really wants to watch a half hour cutscene, but people will be bored as hell playing a proper epilogue. Very few games make good use of either of those solutions.

What was your favorite weapon in the game? Towards the end I liked dodging and melee-ing a lot more since it would deal with armored enemies efficiently.

Yeah, I tried that constantly until I ended up getting slaughtered by all the dudes with machine guns. I started to use the Magnum the most once I upgraded it all the way. The silencer let me kill quietly whether the enemy had armor on or not. But I used the bow more than anything else throughout the game.

I tried booting up multiplayer, and I couldn't help but laugh at the statement the dev team made about the multiplayer not being tacked on. I think it's funny that several reviewers criticized the MP, giving the game a lower score, but I guarantee they'll still crank out semi-regular DLC for it.

Fuck. You just reminded me that I picked up all the DLC and installed it, but I haven't started up Skyrim since before the 1.6 patch. I have Spring Break next week, though, and no plans until the weekend, so I'll be squeezing in some hours.

I fired up CSS while I wait for BioShock:Infinite to drop. I could access my backlog, but nahhhhhhh. Saving for a bomb ass computer to play some up coming games there too.

Pittsburgh is fun. Dirty, but then again, what city isn't? I haven't spent too much time there, but I've visited a few times with my brother, who lives in Morgantown, WV. It was fun to visit, if that means anything.

    Neverwinter Beta Weekend.

It's decent, but for a game that is much better played with friends, they make it extra difficult to communicate and group (even with native voice chat).

Finished tomb raider and for some reason my interest in the game just dropped completely after the credits. I loved the game but I have no desire at all to have another play through. I disgust myself as a gamer. I wanted something else to play so I picked up a copy of far cry 3.

Though I really should be focusing on music, trying to write/compose when I've never done it before is a really daunting task
