Who Will Have The Best E3 Press Conference?

Posted on Thursday, May 31 @ 11:55:32 Eastern by Jonathan_Leack

E3 is coming next week, and as usual, it's time for the big boys to fight.

Nintendo is going to be showcasing the Wii U which is releasing later this year. Publisher support, tech demos, and pricing details are all very likely to be shown during the press conference. The 3DS should also make a presence, and now that the device is over a year old, there should be some killer apps announced to compete with the recently released Vita.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are aging, but you shouldn't expect to see the successors to each during Sony's and Microsoft's press conferences. However, announcements such as exclusive game reveals, new partnerships, and new services will provide plenty to chew on.

Similar to Nintendo, Sony has a handheld to sell so the PlayStation Vita's future software might take up a fair cut of the show. Given its slow launch, this is a prime opportunity for Sony to get the ball rolling.

Below is the schedule for each of the major three press conferences:

Microsoft - Monday, June 4th @ 9:30AM (PST)
Sony - Monday, June 4th @ 6:00PM (PST)
Nintendo - Tuesday, June 5th @ 9:00AM (PST)

Which press conference do you think will have the biggest impact?

No question about Nintendo. Unless Sony or Microsoft have some bombshell original Ip to discuss nothing will compare to Nintendo hitting 3rd gear on the 3DS while also going full bore ahead with the WiiU.

Sure Microsoft and Sony can try and out do them, to suck the wind out of their sails, but Nintendo has a rabid fan base and there will be little to dull the fervor of a tantalizing new system.

I foresee a very underwhelming E3...and since I didn't win the E3 contest I hope that place burns to the ground...They could set the place on fire with any of Konami's presenters breath, the boozehounds they are.

I sense you have some inner turmoil in you that stains your sock red with rage... or orange if the yellow is in fact still able to blend color wise with another.

Sony and MS have said that they won't be unveiling a new console this E3. We'll see whether or not that's true, but Sony in particular are very bad about releasing info well before E3. So I'm inclined to believe it about them, because otherwise they already would have spilled most of the info about their next console. About MS, we'll just have to wait and see.

Also, as much as I like my non-Nintendo systems, I have to say that Sony and MS really suck when it comes to exciting reveals and managing expectations. Sony, as I said above, simply can not keep their products a secret and always release info before E3. And while MS is good at keeping secrets, they tend to misinterpret what their audience wants to hear and emphasize ideas or products that don't excite the gamer community.

Nintendo is bound to have at least one surprise. Sony and Microsoft will probably have more sequels revealed, playing it safe.
