![]() It's been months of leaks, rumors, speculation and anticipation. But the day is here -- the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY has been officially announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The PlayStation Certified Android smartphone will be arriving this Spring, exclusively to Verizon Wireless. The Xperia PLAY will come pre-loaded with a "legendary PSOne game" -- which we've learned is Crash Bandicoot -- and number of games from third-party publishers. Over 50 titles will be available at launch from over 20 publishing partners. Among the partners listed were Gameloft, EA and more, with exclusive content to be developed for it by Sony Computer Entertainment that goes beyond the PlayStation Suite service. That's just the gaming half. The Xperia PLAY is also a powerful smartphone, featuring the latest version of Google's Android OS, Gingerbread (2.3), a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and a Adreno 205 GPU -- making it capable of 60fps gaming on the go. Android is now officially ready to PLAY. Are you? Comments
