2d games aren't around much anymore. And there's a reason for that. With all the Xbox360s and the PS3s why is there a need for such simple 2d games? Alien Hominid is, if you haven't guessed, a 2d game. You start off as an alien who crash landed on Earth and is being hunted down by the CIA/FBI/Men in Black Suits. The first few levels are easy but soon the game gets pretty tough on you, as expected. Most of the time you run and gun while getting temporary upgrades for your gun. Sometimes the action goes to something different, such as driving tanks or flying in space. There are plenty of bosses to face in Alien Hominid, most of which are easy, but some take a while to master. Each of the bosses, however, does the exact same thing. They do their simple attack, you do whatever you need to damage them, they get mad and go faster, you continue dodging their attacks, and kill them. This is the situation for every boss, and considering how short the game is that's not a good thing. There are only three chapters in the game, each a different location, and each with a different number of sub-chapters. One plus to Alien Hominid is the visuals. Everything in the game is hand drawn, which adds to the overall feel of the game. There are some unlockables to try to get, but it's to little, to late. Any 2d fan will enjoy it, but for everyone else it will just be average.
