Who Said Tight Red Lycra Didn't Look Good?!

This guy's middle name could be attitude, he has got a hell of a way of talking to his enemies. I remember a fire boss he comes up against, giving Joe insults and poking him with jerk quotes, when Joe replies, "you sayin' I'm too hot to handle?!" Reminds me of Austin Powers when Dr.Evil says, "maybe it got a little...hot...for...you," after he burns mustafa!

Anyway, Viewtiful Joe, what a game this is. The plot is a bit strange. You're a regular guy watching a film in the cinema with your girlfriend Silvia, watching Captian Blue (basically Captain Falcon...but he's shorter, fatter and older). And just then Silvia gets sucked into the film, and you dive in after her. You're now IN the movie, and you go in search of Silvia to rescue her. On the way, you receive a V-Watch which transforms you into Viewtiful Joe.

So what of this red spandex treat? Well the gameplay is focused on doing awesome fighting moves to impress the audience. The more good impressions you make, the more points you get. And you can use these points to upgrade Joe by bying extra moves and utilities, not bad Joe! And about these moves, well they're pretty terrific. You have 3 main powers. "Slow", in which you can slow down time so that you can pummel you're enemies in double-figure combos. "Mach Speed", where you can go so fast that you get body doubles of yourself whilst fighting (who also attack the enemy). And "Zoom", where you zoom in and do special moves...this is really for the eye candy, but it tastes good!

The graphics look really cool, Capcom (who always do high-paced action games. Very arcade like) have come up with some cel shading produce here, giving the whole game a comic book effect. And it pays off trememdously! Looks are fantastic. The light reacts to the objects perfectly giving Joe and Co. a healthy 3-D glow :). The background and foregrounds are all 2-D, and Joe only moves left to right, but this doesn't ruin the game at all. It's not an RPG, so restrict away right?!

The sound and music is awesome! Everytime Joe does a double-jump he goes "woooo", and it pumps you up because you know hes loving all this ass whoopin'! The soundtrack is all techno, fitting to the modern image that this game gives...along with the high speed action too!

The controls are PERFECT in this game. The positioning of them are in the perfect place and you can really put all of Joes moves together in one swift motion! Very well distributed on the controller. And the reaction time is also PERFECT! There's not one single delay, not even a drip...I'm telling you now...controls are PERFECT haha.

This game is so much fun to play, as soon as i played 5 minutes of it, i was hooked for the rest of my weekend, i couldnt take my eyes off it! And as soon as I'd finished it, i wanted to play it over, and over again, so i did! Also, a game has never really uses this interesting way of cel shading graphics. It's a treat to look at. I guess that's why they call it "Viewtiful", because it's a beatuiful view.
