Some improvements
Alien Crossfire is basically the same game as SMAC without expansion , but it ads some nice things that make game more enjoyable.
Just like original it starts with movie but in that movie two alien ships fire at each other and crash to planet...
So there is 7 new factions and 2 of em' are aliens the Caretakers and the Unsurpers (both start with extra-powerfull ogres) at the start they are best. There are other factions which are humans (I found that Nautilus Pirates are best cos' they start at sea) at the start you can choose factions (7) from 14 or make your own (includes custom faction editor).
Game changes are here: Bases won't start automated and they inform you about ready buildings, but not about troops. Many new techs, Alien techs like resonanse armors and guns. New ''wonders'' and facilities. New alien units like Sea lurk: worse than Isle of Deep.
New ''corruption'' system which increases drones when exeeding certain amount of bases.
More story thingy , the meeting of aliens. Also other small things.
This expansion is must if you have SMAC
