What do these ratings mean?

CnC 3 is a good comeback of a classic game. Although its obviously under a huge magnifying glass from the gaming community, like any long awaited sequel, CnC 3 deserves more recognition than given by the community.

So, here is the deal. The game has a lot of balancing issues, resources in comparison to armies and units in comparison to army strategies. If you played online (this is also partially true in single player) the game is all about the rushing and fast battles with mixed units. A valiant attempt to change the last CnC's "the more the better" strategy.  Still this is taking out the fun out of the CnC genre, after all why wouldn't you want to build 100 of the same unit. Still if your lucky enough to join a 'no rush' game you can calmly build 40 mammoth tanks and wipe out everything (mammoth's are to cheap...). But the problem with no rush games is that THERE WILL BE NO RESOURCES left after the first big battle, which will end in a stalemate and the rest of the game will be slow and lame. Ok, so EA (damn EA for buying Westwood) needs to balance the resource re-spwaning and managment.

Now to the technical practicality issues. The online rooms suck, the endless problems before the 4th patch aside. The room system and the friend system sucks and is to dependent on the web interface on the CnC website, its just not practical and the rooms are always full. There is not "join your friends game" option on your (badly designed) friend menu. Come on EA for gods sake, have some imagination for practicality...and hire some beta testers, you better include better fixes in the next patches. And lastly, NO WORLD BUILDER comes with the game, come on... lame.

My conclusion. Lacking in some areas and unbalanced in others, a true CnC fan will look at the potential rather than the given content, after all the gaming industry has advanced since Tiberium sun. I know that EA will fix a lot of issues in the future and the world builder will boost the games value, after all the hand full of included maps are getting boring and over exploited by team-speak users. I think that this game is a jewel in the rough and any dedicated Westwood worshiper will gladly wait.

I think you focused more on the negative aspects of Tiberium Wars than you intended, especially since your argument is that it deserves more recognition and is "a jewel in the rough." However, despite that, a few mechanical errors, and an overusage of "sucks," this review is better than the other GR member reviews out there. Hope to read more from you.

Thanks. I just decided to write a fast review. Didn't bother much with structure and in depth descriptions, i am usually more thorough. ^^
