Diablo just keeps on coming back, doesn't he? GRADE: B
Diablo 2: Lord Of Destruction is the expansion set for Diablo 2, which was released before the turn of the millenium. Not to be outdone by the new years bug, Blizzard created the expansion set to take all our minds off what will happen when all the missiles are cast off all at once all over the world.
Blizzard first said, when they made up their mind, "hey, 5 characters is boring, lets add 2 more". And so they did. They added the Assasin, and the Druid, 2 grand spanking new characters full of unique skills.
So what makes this game better?
Let.s start off with the equipment. More items are added, but mostly in the latter part of the game, so noobs can't get to them first. They still use the longbow, two handed sword, and large axe from the act 1.
What's new is that 2 new gems are added: the Jewel, and the runes. The jewel usually contains magical properties that improve attack rating, elemental defence, and so on. The better part of jewels come later in the game, but in NORMAL difficulty, they are good for selling. Runes however, are worth to keep. You can create exceptionally cool items, by inserting a specific amount of runes into a weapon/armor/shield/helm in a specific order. An example of this, is the enigma plate.
Also, Blizzard decided to add a new act, because what would life be after defeating the devil himself with a spanish name? (Diablo is spanish for Devil, for you people who don't understand!)
Act 5 gives the player a war-like feel. Did you ever wonder what it would feel like to fight alongside a city full of Barbarians? Well, you will now. Because that's what you are going to do. The town of Harrogath is under siege by Baal, who is trying to corrupt the Worldstone. Only you, (barbarians are too weak :P) can stop him, but you must also do some quests along the way.
One of the handiest quest in Harrogath is the first one. Once you complete it, the weaponsmith will socket your item, letting you able to insert a gemstone in it.
Diablo 2 Lord Of Destruction is actually a very cool game, but it gets very repetitive. Sure, the 7 character classes are fun, and all, but it gets boring fast. They should've concentrated on making Diablo 3 come faster to North America, and not just pool all their efforts into expansions.
