How can the computer still be in terrific form when it has so many competitors in the gaming world? Isn't a bigger struggle enough to compete with the multi-million sales of the PS2? And the dominant Xbox which practically offers any game being released on PC. It even struggles behind the Gamecube, which has been basically ignored by today's "gamers" who wouldn't know a good game if it bit them in the ass. Still, it sticks its head in with some excellent titles. Half-Life 2 is one of them. The sequel to the critically acclaimed smash hit Half-Life this game is a amazingly insight back into the explosive world of Gordon Freeman, who was once just a basic, boring scientist.
The story starts of where the first left off, you are escorted by a mysterious man to help fight against the evil Combine government. He joins the resistance force in City 17. You appear in an office building and must find a professor. After located him and talking to his lovely daughter it is time to send you off to help fight off the government in a different section. Of course, a headcrab jumps into the portal with you. Unleashing the horrible alien creatures of the first one. You, Gordon Freeman must now fight against the Combine soldiers, and deal with zombies, Head Crabs and things that slice you up! Ouch!
The beautiful graphics (which were even on Low for my crap system) were mind-boggling beautiful. Character defintion and expressions looked as you were actually talking to real people. The terrificly scripted game has twists and turns and many strange characters, but offers you non-stop action from the get go. With new weapons, such as The Gravity Gun and Bug Bait you can cause havoc on anything that decides to stand in your way. Its good to be the king..
The only bad thing about Half-Life 2 is Steam. Copywrite is so bad now you mut log in, verify your account, check if your copy is legit, then check for updates and installs them before you can even say "WTF?!?!?!". So if you don't have a internet connection, you wouldn't be here and you wouldn't be playing Half-Life 2.
The game comes back into the good books with CS: Source, a update of the boring CS and boosts it with better graphics and more interesting game play. Maybe if the people in the game actually died when you shoot them, the game would be fun. Its frustrating. Very frustrating.
Anyway, Half-Life 2 is definately Game of the Year so far and offers players beautiful graphics and addictive game play. This game is hard though, so be in for a tough time, but it is worth it.
Terrific game, and A must buy for any PC lover!
