There are times that I wish we had the good ol games from days past. But there hasn't been that many good Star Trek games since the days of the mother boards.
Star Trek: Legacy for the PC is a smooth, visual eye treat, which has many different kinds of playable ships and decent multiplayer. Being a Borg cube and blowing up the enterprise earns many points of nerdism.
While the nerdism points are high in this game, Trekkies will rejoice, for the two greatest captains ever to pilot imaginary ships are actually in this game. Jean Luc Picard and Kirk make an appearance as narrators/ for this game.
Sounds like a good package? Well after Kirks cameo appearance on Star Trek: Encounters, for the Ps2, (which resulted in me throwing that CD though my open window, and running it over repeatedly with my car), Kirk and Picard's dialog needs serious work. They spend more time spewing out crappy insults and poor jokes than giving helpful advice. Damnit Jim! Why do you have to over act everthing *KHAN!
As Scotty would say "She can't take anymore, Captain!" And "Where's my scotch, ya wench!"
Yeah, I made the last one up, but you get the point.
This game is like a good glass of scotch, nice to the eyes, smooth flavor, and pleasant aroma. And like scotch, have enough of it, and you will wake up in a bed alone, with a little present down south that needs daily injections to put into remission.
Keep this game a safe distance away from the kids; they might start playing it underage. As for the adults, use it responsibly. Or keep it for special occasions, or those late nights with nothing to do.
