Did I get my +5 Vorpal sword yet?

I remember there was a time when Baldurs gate was free from enemies, where the guard was able to snooze and be at peace, when beholders, trolls, and gelatinous cubes belonged to the outskirts. Of course, this would take away all the ass kicking weapons and armor from the game, so let's not go back to that time...

Baldurs Gate 2: Dark Alliance is the sequal to the top selling game Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance. It is another hack & slash, which basicly you kill, pluder items, sell and/or keep them, gain experience, and go kill some stronger things. It sounds simple, and it is, but simple is so fun!

Aside from the usual aspects of Hack & Slash, Baldurs Gate 2 steps up to the plate fully and delivers a full swing. The makers added some pretty sweet new items, (my favorite being the dwarven axe you get late in the game!) and the cool new ability to forge new items. With every coolest thing, comes a hefty price. The dwarven smith isn't cheap!

The forge also allows you to break down magical items for their gem stones. Although you cannot get the essential Rune Stone already forged inside the item, you get the gems. (the rune stone makes it +1, +2, etc)

Also, there are about 10 new enemies to fight, as well as unique new bosses. So instead of just beating the hell of a gelatinous cube and some slime, you get to beat the hell out of gelatinous cubes, slimes, and some monsters that deal hefty amounts of damage, as well as poison, and other status effects.

The only one draw-back from this game is the fact that you never travel to another city. The characters stay in Baldurs Gate, to which one demands if the creators couldn't fit all the new landscaping and background to the already full disk full of cool axes!

All in all, Baldurs Gate 2 sticks up to it's ancient ancestor. With improved graphics, new characters, new items, and some new locations, this game is a definite buy for any baldurs gate fans.
