What do these ratings mean?

After the dissapointing DMC 2 the 3rd entry in the series brings back much of what made the first game so fun but it introduces some new problems as well. First of all the game looks pretty decent and there is lots of variety in the environments and enemies you fight, particularly the bosses. The combat is generally very smooth and the ability to choose different fighting styles addes some much needed depth to DMC's combat. There are some great new weapons to choose from and switching between them is a lot easier this time around. Generally the game functions well a hack n slash but you'll need to master some combos and get good at blocking  if you have any hope of finishing the game. Oh yes DMC 3 is very hard and rarely are you given a break in the action. The bosses are just nasty so be prepared to die a lot throughout the game. The story of the game is ok. It revolves around Dante and his brother Vergil. Basically Vergill wants to unleash hell on earth and Dante must stop. The cutscenes are highly cinematic and usually a blast to watch except for when Dante utters one of his incredibly um incredibly...I'm just gonna say it incredibly GAY one liners. This is by far my biggest complaint in the game. In the first two games Dante is a total badass in DMC 3 he is just fruity as hell. This game is set before the first two so maybe Dante was questioning his sexual orientation or maybe had an obsession with Micheal Jackson because Dante comes off as anything but badass in this game. Besides Dante's character always sounding like he's having an orgasim when he's fighting the game is good bloody and allways challenging fun. But again I must warn you this game is unforgiving so beware if you don't like your games too hard or your main characters lame.
